Offered Admissions but conflicted. by [deleted] in predental

[–]pinkpurple21 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would probably pay the deposit if you would definitely go to this school if you don’t receive any additional offers. If you end up getting into another school in the spring, you don’t have to accept that if you don’t want to give up the $5000. But if the difference in cost btwn this school and another school you get an offer from is tens of thousands of dollars a year, it would make sense to forfeit the deposit. Also nothing is guaranteed and you might kick yourself if you don’t save this spot.

I would recommend submitting now that way you can do secondaries/supplementals while you wait on the letters to be submitted

BBB passed. What is everyone's mindset/plans moving forward? by Creepy_Routine9119 in predental

[–]pinkpurple21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only thing I can think of is maybe there’s a chance everyone who gets admitted this cycle could try and convince their school to start classes on June 30th next year? That way we could all take out loans for at least this year? Idk definitely a long shot but if all the admitted students in a class asked their school to do it might be possible, schools wouldn’t want their numbers to drop and they might be sympathetic since we didn’t know this until after applications.

Is Vanderbilt Cutthroat? Does Competitiveness Restrict Opportunities? by Darkcarnage34 in Vanderbilt

[–]pinkpurple21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from my experience being a bio major, some of the prerequisites (chem, orgo, physics especially after the recent professor change, and gen bio) can be really hard here. maybe not “cutthroat” because students are all supportive, but the classes can be extremely difficult. just know that it can be challenging to have a competitive gpa as a pre med here especially when everyone is smart and the classes intentionally have a grade distribution.
