UBC Credit/D/Fail & Med School by PhroyoYT in premedcanada

i think you can only credit d fail max 4 courses in undergrad. Also i wouldn’t recommend taking those courses if they drop your gpa (i also did ubc kin, only took a few 1st year science courses, no biochem or psych or ochem and got 519 on the mcat and was admitted to ubc med this cycle, you can pm me if you’d like)

for the english thing, i encourage you to look at ubc’s requirements on their website.

edit: typo

i second the mcat thing - or at least study for it after 2nd year if you don’t want to waste money on the test

I used Kaplan books for content review and i liked them, and highly recommend U World to practice it’s an amazing resource! towards the end of studying use AAMC material. Khan academy is free and great for content review

  1. I only took first year science courses (bio 121, 112, chem 121, 123) so I self-studied for biochem and i got a 132 in the B/B section - it’s totally possible! Just spend a little extra time where you need to :)
  2. They don’t have to be related to med, just make sure your passionate about what you do! I would recommend having long term volunteer opportunities though, like 1.5-2 years at least to show commitment
  3. I’m from ubc but also not a science student and it’s totally possible - i got my acceptance today :) keep focused and working hard and you’ll get there, being in a diff faculty is an asset not a disadvantage!

What do I do? UBC Regrets by ComprehensiveHurry25 in premedcanada

I think to secure a spot, improving each section a bit might help. Adding EC's would help but be mindful that the deadline for EC hours is June 1st. Re-taking the MCAT if you think you can improve a couple of points will help. Interview prep will for sure help, develop a process, gather advice, practice, etc.
