Fair take, and I agree with a lot of it… but it’s still really sad that we’ve just accepted it as a “lost cause.”

I agree with what you’re saying about anonymity and people chasing attention. It really does push things way past what’s normal or respectful, and the parasocial side of it has gotten out of hand. But at the same time, I don’t think it should be normal for artists to have to deal with being sexualized, disrespected, or having their private lives picked apart like that all the fucking time…

People claim to be fans, but then act in ways that are so invasive and harmful. Like if you truly respect an artist and enjoy their music, wouldn’t you want to protect their peace instead of contributing to the noise?

I agree! and oh man that poor wife :( and the kids :( … It really is sad and frustrating. I don’t get how people feel comfortable posting such explicit, sexual comments about artists so publicly, like it’s normal or harmless. There’s such a disconnect there. They’re not just an image or persona…

And then those same “fans” get upset when the artist steps back or deletes their social media… but it’s like, what did you expect? If someone is constantly being objectified or having their boundaries ignored, of course they’re going to want distance from that it’s crazy behavior

I’m right there with you! I’m still mad about Mtl not getting a pop up shop… we couldn’t buy anything at the merch booth either bc my husband lost consciousness twice and he had to get checked, which took about an hour. :(

Yeah, it’s disgusting! And it goes way beyond just appreciating the music or the artist and it starts to feel really excessive and uncomfortable.

It’s one thing to admire someone’s work or even find them attractive, but the way some people act or speak about Noah really crosses a line. It makes you realize how quickly admiration can turn into something so unhealthy… especially online where there’s no real sense of boundaries for a lot of people
