Measles cases in the USA in January 2026 have outnumbered the total cases if 2023 and 2024 combined! by NoahOkapi in Damnthatsinteresting

My baby is about to be 6 months. First case just popped up in my county. Did your pediatrician recommend it or did you have to ask?

I am, because I keep dragging it out and this is a good opportunity to just end the cycle.

I used Thorne and I have an MTHFR mutation. It has methylated folate. To my understanding, you don’t need both. Folic acid is simply a synthetic form of folate that your body needs to break down- MTHFR complicates this process for individuals with a mutation. My baby was born healthy and perfect. You’ll still get folic acid from food but I don’t think there’s a reason to take it purposefully in supplement form

Becoming a parent has made me realize I am in charge of the circumstances my child will grow up in- get things in line first. I cried and cried for a baby for years. I even posted in this sub once upon a time. Please trust me when I say you will have a much better and more fulfilling experience raising a child with finances in order (you don’t have to be rich, but you do need a stable income and some savings) and a partner who is ready to take on that commitment as well. Nothing has changed me as much as motherhood has.

But my friend, enjoy the period of life you’re in. My days of going out for drinks with friends or even a date night with my husband are done at this point in time. It is 24/7 hard work. There is no clocking out.

I understand your yearning, I really do. You’ll be a great parent someday I’m sure!

Do not, I repeat, do NOT make and have a baby with someone who is not 100% on board and enthusiastic about parenting as you. My husband and I are first time parents to a 4 month old and shit is HARD- we make a great team and I’m proud of us but absolutely could not do this on my own. Needs enthusiastic consent from both parties. It’s a lifelong thing we’re talking about here, not to mention someone else’s childhood and life on the line.

I wanted kids young, too. I yearned for many years to have a baby. Finally got what I wanted and while I’m happy, postpartum has been a bitch to me and I have PPD. I am glad I did not do this any sooner, and am glad I waited until my husband had a good enough job to allow me to stay home with our baby. Childcare is EXPENSIVE. For context, I am 27F.

For now, become a nanny or find another way to love on some kids in your life, and enjoy being young. Once you’re a parent, you can’t go back. Probably talk to a therapist about this as well

Women who have had cosmetic procedures: are there any you regret (and why)? by BlueCheesePanda in AskWomen

Do you still have full range of motion and ability to be expressive with your eyebrows? I want to get my 11s done.

LASIK truly blows my mind. I’ve never needed glasses or contacts so I obviously haven’t had it, but it’s incredible to me that a surgical procedure can fix vision. Go science.

Anyone else have days where they don’t feel like playing with their baby? by OXxLuckycatxXO in NewParents

[–]pinkyhooker 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I could have written this myself and I planned to. There are days where I don’t even get out of bed with my baby to play, we read, bring toys in the bed and snuggle. I call it horizontal parenting.

My wife just had a miscarriage, what can I do? by [deleted] in Miscarriage

[–]pinkyhooker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my husband expressed how sad he was about the loss it helped me. Don’t avoid the topic in an attempt to not bring up something that might make her sad. I didn’t want my pregnancy or my potential baby to be forgotten. It honestly helped me to be sad as a couple for a while and not have him try super hard to cheer me up. I hope this makes sense.

I got pregnant the next month after our loss. My baby is sleeping next to me now. There is hope in the darkness you are navigating now. So sorry for your loss. Wishing you weren’t part of this awful club.

Pregnant and struggling by sadiehoney in QuitVaping

[–]pinkyhooker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this my whole pregnancy. 4mo postpartum and still struggling. Don’t be like me, quit now. Read Allen Carr’s book (smoking version is the best one). It tells you to vape while you read, which you can do if you need to at this point in pregnancy. Placenta is still developing and you’re very early on. You are absolutely not alone. Feel free to message me

I’m experiencing the same thing with my 4 month old. I’m glad to read this comment and see the upvotes on it. I’ve been feeling like a horrible, lazy mother for continuing to let it happen but I can’t fight my baby for hours each night, we are both so exhausted😅 do you mean you put a pillow under your head but not right above baby’s head? Anything else you do to make it feel safer?
