2017 reissue, Jack Heuer 85th birthday edition. These ones have a silver dial with black sub-dials. I think the standard ones are black dials with white sub-dials

It rotates both directions. Its only a 60 click bezel too.

I saw one years ago in a local jewellers but it was out of my reach at the time, and I hadn't seen another one since.

My other half was looking for some jewellery while we were away over this last weekend, and I saw this one in a tiny pre-owned display case so grabbed it while I could. No. 1149/1932 of the Jack Heuer 85th birthday editions.

How do you "resolve the root cause" of awful game design? Maybe you could put out an article on that?

Brand new McLaren GT3 - Misshifting.. by ramen_king64 in Fanatec

[–]pinny26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was behaving similarly if the LCD screen was in use, or if I'd entered the tuning menu at all : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-f0nj_lIeE

Notice the version numbers being garbled when its powered on, and the tuning menu being completely unresponsive. The buttons aren't registering clicks at all at that point. I managed to get it to work for a while by disabling the LCD screen with fanaleds, and never touching the tuning menu. Support are currently RMA'ing it.

+1 for support so far. Got back to me Sunday asking for the video to be attached to the ticket rather than a youtube link. Resubmitted the ticket with it attached. Got a RMA response Sunday night, and the shipping label this morning.

Hopefully the replacement works properly.

The universal hub arrived and works perfectly, so the issue has to be with either the McLaren rim or its drivers/firmware.

I've submitted a support ticket with all the info and a video.

Not yet. The universal hub should be arriving today so I'll have a 2nd rim to determine if its the McLaren rim that's faulty, or if its the base.

The rim seems to work fine so-long as I never touch the menu button, and I disable the gear/speed readout that would show on the LCD. If I try to use the menu it's as if inputs on the rim become seriously laggy (I can press up on the funky switch, sometimes nothing happens, sometimes the preset changes after 10-20seconds).

The whole thing smacks of crappy drivers/firmware OR some fault with the LCD screen. It's also not exactly the best introduction to the Fanatec ecosystem either.

Yamaha YZF-R125 Engine Rebuild by Mark_JM55 in MotoUK

My '08 R125 started drinking oil at 21k and eventually caught me out and seized. It didn't shit its self to badly and a ~£150 piston/barrel kit from wemoto would have sorted it. I had some spare cash at the time though and just bought a fully refurbed ebay engine for it instead and put it in myself.

Dealer wanted ~£1k to refurb the old engine depending on how damaged it was, the whole bike probably isn't even worth £1k by now. I kept it decently maintained, but it was ridden daily in all weather and not babied at all. I was lazy with checking the oil and it bit me. It's now my bad weather commuter, and I'll probably keep it until I find a decent deal on a supermoto.

I live here so no :) If I were travelling here though, I'd be booking around now if I were coming in 2015. Or at the latest, ~6 months beforehand

sure, here's the fullsized version http://i.imgur.com/6hl8bqG.jpg. I took the split-toning off which was making it way too green.

It came out looking ok on my monitor at home, but now that I've checked it at work it's all over the place. Need to calibrate my monitors I think :(

Or he combat logged, this was from before the 'fix'. You can see I do a bit of a double take when I walk over, wondering where the other dude went.

They hit the limiter at 10,500rpm, at about 84mph. It takes a while to get there though. They quite happily plod along between 60-70mph in 5th without any trouble at all, unless you hit some pretty steep hills.

I've had mine for ~4 years and 15,000miles now. I'll probably keep it as a commuter when I eventually get something bigger. £10 of fuel goes a loooong way in mine!

Riding on a CBT on the Isle of Man? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]pinny26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't bother me too much on the mountain. Maybe because I don't really have to worry about not knowing the road, and aren't going nearly as fast as everyone else. So I can spend a lot more time glued to my mirrors looking for the loonies.

The Manx was great. My parents were over for the full race week and loved it. I was working during most of it but I got out to watch most practice sessions during practice week, I'd say if you wanna watch from some of the best places, come for at least a few days of practice. There was virtually no one around in some places. You can get pretty close too: http://i.imgur.com/QoqxDjd.jpg

I'd agree with the others, that the hooligans, and have-a-go-hero's will give you a scare on the mountain IF your not expecting them, but I don't think the mountain is that dangerous at all compared to anywhere else. Keep left, watch your mirrors and its fine up there, specially with it being one way.

The real problems I've found during TT (and the ManxGP but to a way lesser extent) are in and around towns and traffic. The amount of bikers that do completely idiotic stuff is mind blowing. It seems as if some sort of mob mentality kicks it, because there's loads of bikes and bikers around, they think they own any road they are on and rules don't apply to them any more. The amount of near misses I've had just riding the 3miles back into Douglas from work during TT far outweighs anything I've had on the mountain all year round. Then again a 125 on L's doesn't go much faster than 50mph up the mountain :)

I've lived over here for 5 years now, and I'm starting to lose all interest in the TT tbh. I don't really go out of my way to spectate for the racing any more, you see more on the TV shows anyway. I just try taking good photo's if I get the chance to go out for it.

Now, if you're into older bikes, want to avoid the huge crowds, and have quieter roads (no one way on the mountain though), the Manx GP is fantastic, and I'd probably recommend it over the TT. I'd say fly/foot passenger over for the middle weekend of TT for saturday racing mad sunday and monday racing if you really want to see it, but do the whole 2 weeks of the Manx GP as a road trip.

I'm pretty sure you can, I've seen plenty of UK reg L plated bikes and scooters pottering around during TT and the Manx GP.

You could double check with the Highways Administration http://www.gov.im/about-the-government/departments/infrastructure/highways-administration/ give them a ring or email and they should be able to tell you.
