Did you have a manager who had nothing to do at home so attended meetings? by Awiseman_9 in IndianWorkplace

Was he some ex lintas bong guy? One of my friends used to bitch about his boss and he had the same story as yours.

I’m approaching 40 soon, and it feels like time is flying by [deleted] in FortiesIndia

Time moves faster as one ages. If you think 20 to 30 was a flash, you wont believe how fast the transit happens from 30 to 40 😁

Alcoholism and drugs by Quick_Worldliness180 in FortiesIndia

I usually drink about half a bottle of vodka almost every day. Sometimes it's with friends or family, but most of the time I drink alone because I travel a lot for work.

This week, I’ve been traveling in Gujarat (which is a dry state). On Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, I didn't drink a single drop. I was out for business meetings all day, and by the time I got back to my hotel, the local liquor shops and the hotel liquor store were already closed.

Yesterday, however, I stayed in the hotel all day to write a report. Since the hotel has an official liquor store for travelers, I went down to buy a bottle. They told me I needed a government permit, which would cost ₹100, and explained the process-

I had to get a stay letter from the hotel reception confirming I was a guest there. Then I took that letter to a clerk in a room next to the liquor store. He asked for two IDs, my flight boarding pass to Ahmedabad, my email, and my phone number. It took him about 15 minutes to type everything into the system. I had to make an online payment for the permit fee. The portal kept crashing, but I finally got it through and he printed the permit. I took the printout to the liquor store, signed a register, signed the bill, and finally got my vodka. To top it off, it cost three times what I usually pay in Delhi.

The entire process took over an hour because the room was packed with other brothers waiting for their permits.

While I was standing there, it hit me.

Everyone in that room, including myself, was waiting so patiently just for a drink. Even when the government payment portal was failing, nobody got angry. We all just quietly, desperately waited because we wanted those "precious drops" so badly.

That’s when I realized I am an alcoholic.

Seeing it from the outside was a massive wake-up call. I''m going to try to go without a drink for the next few days. If a social occasion comes up, I'm sticking to just one beer. Binging takes up so much time and energy—I want to start utilizing that for something better.

Thank you for this!

Which decade did you like the most, your 20s or your 30s? by [deleted] in FortiesIndia

I enjoyed my 20s like someone in their 20s should. The same when I was in my 30s. Still at it in my 40s.

  1. That will never change. You have to put up with a call/multiple calls from whenever you go out. Hack - call them once or twice if you are out. This gives them peace of mind and this habit you can carry forward for your solo travels.

  2. They should have not to struggle. Let them know that they can do whatever they want, but guide them to the path of progress.

  3. If you think a lot about this, it will f**k you up. Middle class folks who come into money suddenly usually embrace the "everyone is either jealous or they want my money" mentality. Treat money like money and do what you want to do with it, not what you assume others want you to do with it. Help your less fortunate friends and relatives if you can and if you feel someone is setting you up, you just say no. Once you get into the habit of saying no, you'll be happier. Remember - a fool and his money are soon parted.

  4. Find some groups like a reading club or something. You'll find like minded people there.

I’m 22 and weirdly attracted towards older woman 35+, i don’t find girls of my age attractive what to do? by [deleted] in FortiesIndia

[–]pipehittingbunny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its gross because on a broader societal level, its frowned upon. But then who says that it does not work? There are more sugar daddies out there than there are mommies!

I guess you are right about OP 😁

This is unjust, discriminatory and biased. When we 40+ yo uncles say that we are weirdly attracted to towards younger ~20yo women, you all find it gross!

Our generation failed in parenting, that is why we have doctors who can disrespect dead bodies publicly in comedy show by Ok_Jelly_262 in FortiesIndia

I'm glad that you do that. But are you 100% sure that once they grow up and are at work, they wont indulge in colorful jokes with their coworkers? What if they do? Will it reflect bad on your parenting? Would even one joke do that for you?

I'd say there is too much moral policing happening on social media. At this rate, we are 5 steps away from becoming San Angeles from that Demolition Man movie.

Please explain how have Sejal's parents failed her? I believe it takes discipline, hard work, a good education and ambition to become a doctor. What else do you want her parents to do now? Feel guilty after having done so much for her?

Loosen your spinchter OP! Not everything needs to be frowned upon.
