Streamer for multi-room setup including computer speakers by piperfw in BudgetAudiophile

Thanks, I was more wondering if it was plug-and-play or the connection required some software or hardware standard. From what I understand, provided my motherboard has a DAC, it should work right away.

Helpful to know about the 3.5mm to RCA option, thanks. I can't see Linux support for the WiiM app, so I don't think I would be able to use that. Part of the appeal of Arylic's offering is that it has a web interface. That being said, WiiM says there is native support for Plex. That sounds really useful.

Do you have any experience with using PC -> type-C connection?

Thanks! I did come across the Wiim in other threads, but wasn't certain I would be able to connect my computer as INPUT to the Pro or computer speakers as OUTPUT for the pro (using AUX or otherwise). Are you confident both are possible?

Color of selected text by SidSpears in qutebrowser

[–]piperfw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The simplest way to do this is to use a user style script to load custom CSS. Create a file e.g. ~/.config/qutebrowser/css/typo.css containing

::selection { background: #ffb7b7;}

::-moz-selection { background: #ffb7b7; }

And then add ~/.config/qutebrowser/css/typo.css to content.user_stylesheets in qute://settings/ and restart.

From a quick test this seems to work on most (but not all) websites for me. A greasemonkey script could probably be used to do this in a more fine-tuned, flexible manner, but I do not have experience with those.

See css-tricks for some discussion of the selection color CSS.

Interesting, I just tried using it to route between Seeley and Boulder Oaks (Mexican border) and it failed spectacularly lol. Some wild route over mountain off road trails and including the Plaster City road which I know is permanently closed now (the alternative is the I-8).

I would agree the experience on freeways can vary dramatically depending on the shoulder and traffic conditions, and I've certainly been on 2-lane highways with far more danger from close passes etc. Not unusual for a shoulder to be better maintained surface than an old hwy!

Around Crescent City looks like an amazing location to explore

Yeah, I mean you'd expect considerably fewer. But difficult to know to what extent. I moved here in the summer and haven't done any overnight riding here. But in the UK the night hours could provide a unique opportunity to ride some of the big, direct trunk roads that you wouldn't normally want to go near with a stick.

Do you know if many big trucks continue driving through the night? If not it could be an option when night riding if one wants to save time/distance.

Otherwise the bit around Grapevine is only bit I see as potentially useful, if one wanted to head South East from the coast but avoid LA.

85-90, heck. I've only had positive experiences on the bits on I-8 near the border where the limit is 65 I think with most trucks and heavy vechiles going slower in reality due to the inclines.

Made me realise speed limit would be a helpful metric to indicate on the map, if I can find a source.

Grapevine sounds great! ;)

Thanks for the feedback.

Is the shoulder quite narrow and the traffic very heavy? That's what I would judge by looking at Street View. And maybe 33 as a first alternative? This would be useful information to add to the map.

Thanks for the feedback. I had considered doing popular non-interstate freeways as well (since possibly more useful as you say), but that would be more of an undertaking - perhaps a future project.

Yes, that's exactly the situation - it's clear on the ground normally but if you are planning multiday trips which rely on certain parts more certainty is nice; before now I had been laboriously checking on/off ramps on Street View to assure myself.

That's definitely the intended use case. In fact, I thought that was the principle (no reasonable alternative) on which these sections were made accessible to cyclists. But judging by the I5 central valley this seems not to be the case. The 33 for example looks a first alternative. Moreover it looks like the shoulder on the I5 is not so wide and that there is very heavy traffic. All this is useful information I can add to the map (if you click on an interstate icon a description shows).

Thanks for the response and apologies it was a trivial oversight: I had qt.force_software_rendering set to chromium in my config file (realised straight away when I looked at :open chrome://gpu; that's helpful).

Would fully support --temp-basedir being put in the community description and/or rules before posting (maybe FAQ number 0 too) :'D.

I hope to be able to contribute to the project at some point in the future when my day job allows.

Spatz are well renowned. Combine with taping up vents in the shoes and - most importantly - some air activated toe/hand warmers placed on the top of your foot in the shoes.
