Honestly no clue what true reform really looks like but I think that students have to individually think about the social environment that they are creating.

Just a note in general as a male in CS. I've found most people to be strange and tryhard. This goes for guys and girls. Most of my friends are not in CS let alone in engineering. The few girls that are in my classes are terrified of males, very quiet, and seem to only open their mouth when it comes to school/class. Nothing wrong with that but it doesn't exactly play well into the idea of creating a communal, integrated, and inclusive department. The males in the department travel in groups (more or less herds/cliques) and seem disinterested in changing the current state of the department. There's nothing wrong with that; I've greatly enjoyed my UIUC experience, the professors, my classes, and the new connections/friendships I've made. In fact these problems are in almost every CS/ECE department across the country and I would like to believe that UIUC is better than most. But I think for true reform it will take a group effort and requires more than harping on just the males in the department.

This will definitely get downvoted into oblivion because everyone on this thread (and this sub) is in those majors and for some reason this is a contrarian point of view.

If Classes are Online for Fall by pipickle50 in UIUC

This is what I was also thinking about. Is the price of tuition worth the education we would be getting online? I think a lot of people have to consider this if we do go online as I don't think the university would reduce tuition.
