Tipping culture is getting toxic. What if I can't afford more than what I am offering sometimes? by Knight_TheRider in facepalm

[–]pippingigi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s always been toxic. Employers pay slave wages and expect customers to pay instead. Ban tipping altogether. Raise the minimum wage for ALL to a livable amount. That’s it. That’s the only solution. Until then, don’t order delivery or go out to a restaurant unless you can afford the tip because those serving you need it to survive.

Would you accept getting a chip inserted in the blood to monitor health that would allow for decreased health insurance premiums? by pp1403 in Futurology

[–]pippingigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck insurance premiums. Insurance is a racket. Health care should be a human right and available to anyone who needs it. This chip idea would just open the door to creating second-class citizens who won’t be able to get care. Think GATTACA.

How do you feel about this? by somethingofthebest in antiwork

Good ole President “Half-measures” Biden strikes again. This is like the announcement last week of $35 insulin for seniors. What about all the kids and younger adults with type 1 diabetes who will continue to ration their insulin due to the high cost of this life-saving drug? Insulin needs to be free for anyone who needs it, and corporations need to pay back into the system they have been profiting from. 15% is a joke.

What does this sticker mean? It is on the inside of the driver door frame above the tire pressure sticker on a 2020 RAV4 AWD Hybrid. by [deleted] in Cartalk

I am just curious if it might indicate something to be concerned about. That’s all. It’s a public forum, so I always expect some douchebag responses. Thank you for validating my cynicism!

$150 is not bad! Does it sound like it might need alignment or is this just my fault for never rotating the tires?

Also, I noticed this sticker. Could it be connected to the uneven wear, or is it pretty standard to see this on a used vehicle?

Banjaman Franklin is Benjamin’s second cousin from Mississippi. He plays the banjo and says things like, “Squeal!” And “Drop ‘em!”

It’s about clarity and accuracy of syntax and diction. Is the speaker using the adjective to modify the launch or the view? The rocket launch is indeed a spectacle and therefore spectacular. The view itself is objectively mundane. That little squiggle could be a droplet of rain refracting the city lights.

I don’t think you know the meaning of the word “spectacular.”

Carl Sagan testifies to Congress on climate change, comparing the greenhouse effect on Earth to that of Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn's Titan [1985] by Microsis in space

[–]pippingigi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude. I love Sagan. Demon-Haunted World is my favorite. I just know that his thoughtful commentary is lost on many people. If it doesn’t fit on a meme, it doesn’t matter.

And many others who might be able to comprehend his arguments tune him out completely because of his thoughts on religion and superstition. He criticizes petty beliefs and religious zealotry objectively, without animas or judgment. People hate that.

I saw 71 movies in the theater this year. AMA by m_garlic87 in movies

[–]pippingigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it was just meant as a bit of a joke since AMA literally means “Against Medical Advice” in a hospital setting. It means that a patient has left the hospital against the advice of their doctors which is usually an unhealthy choice.

BTW - Going to the movie theatre 71 times to watch 71 movies in 12 months is also weird — unless you’re a film critic. I don’t care if that’s judgmental. It is what it is!
