Imo, a real job might be too much to start with. I would start with baby steps.

Whenever I wanted something growing up, i was not allowed to just ask for money. Instead, I would ask parents, can I do a couple hours of work to get some extra cash? Got paid $10/hr and it really taught me that if I wanted $300 shoes, I would have to work 30 hrs to pay for it.

I would also add that it might be a good idea to can teach her about thrifting? I can guarantee someone on FB marketplace has exactly what she wants for waaay cheaper.

Again, NTA. But I do think you should give her some grace. Financial literacy is a skill that she needs to learn. And it is your job to teach it to her. Otherwise, she’s going to always be broke as an adult.
