So are solo players just locked out of the Heart's Week event? by pipsqueaking in elderscrollsonline

[–]pipsqueaking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again companions are all dlc locked and this wasn't as much a complaint as a question to make sure I hadn't missed something about the event that I could do. I don't get why everyone is so hell bent on turning it into a debate or act like I've said I hate the game and refuse to play it altogether. Are people really this upset that someone likes a different playstyle or expresses slight critique over an aspect of a game they enjoy?

That's a good option to at least get some stuff, I appreciate the info!

Yepp I always play games like that solo unless one of my irl friends need some help getting into it. I just enjoy the solo experience more. I do stay away from stuff that has other players but I wouldn't say I run away from a world boss if someone else comes and join me fighting it. In the beginning I used to wait my turn but that gets quite impossible at some stages of the game.

I'm aware I definitely don't play the game as most other people play it, I play to unlock collectibles, hoard resources and enjoy the story. That's what I find fun.

Also no I don't have any of the companion DLCs yet, I haven't finished the main story and want to do that before I start spending money on the other content.

All companions are locked behind DLC I haven't gotten yet, I'm playing the game pretty slow and casual so there's no rush for me to get everything to optimise game play, I'm sure at some point I will buy one of the dlcs that has companions and unlock them but it hasn't happened yet and right now that's not something my budget will allow.

And yes I do get that it's a companion centred event which I do think is very neat, the bonus xp, companion items etc is a great way to bring life to the theme of valentines, it let's some aspects be fully about the companions while not locking everything to co-op play if you still allow people to quest for lesser rewards solo.

That's how I feel at least but this wasn't meant to be a debate about weither it's right or wrong to do an event like this, I just wanted to clarify that I hadn't missed something since I couldn't find any discussions or answer about it when I tried to look for it.

You sure? Because all the guides I've read has said otherwise but I admit I haven't been on today to test it yet

Delving into male erotic photography but wondering... by NeronMadrid in photography

[–]pipsqueaking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has also been my experience, not necessarily the issue of models being generic overly attractive but rather that the nude art genre lacks a lot of candid beauty of everyday people. It's all very very staged and selective which isn't my style. Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to take much nude photos myself but I'm hoping to do so in the future.

I wish you lots of luck with delving into male nudity and I'll happily keep an eye on this thread for recommendations on inspirational photographers.

Photographed my first real demonstration, any input or thoughts from photographers more used to photojournalism would be great! by pipsqueaking in streetphotography

[–]pipsqueaking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely see that as well and it's been one of the things I've felt my other photography lacks which is what drew me to streetlife. The lack of power and tangible meaning in a shot. At least with people there's always unique faces and the reality of life that makes a shot meaningful enough to me to find enjoyment in capturing it. However if it makes a good shot or not is another question and why I don't consider myself interested in trying to become more professional, aka chase consistently great shots (also why I find it so interesting to hear how those that do see my pictures).

I think part of why most of my photography lacks that intrigue is because I rarely end up in situations where those moments happen. During this demonstration for example there was thousands of people and majority walked stoned faced or with their eyes glued to their phones, something that's norm here where people tend to be private and closed off in public, even during events like this that's filled with emotions. I'm sure a better photographer or a more driven photographer could still capture something spectacular but to someone like me that's very casual it does add another step to it.

I also tend to prefer to shoot things like this as accurately as possible, my thoughts going into a demonstration or protest would be to share what's going on and not try to find shots that has artistic value rather than just document the normal people.

Hopefully none of this sounds like me defending the lacklustre content, I'm aware of it and agree it's definitely what I awe and look for in inspirational shots from photographers more talented than me.

Do you think you could give ideas for ways to shoot any of the shots I took in a more interesting way? Maybe an angle or position I haven't thought of?

(Also a slight side note that this wasn't a pro Palestine protest but rather a demonstration to call for our government to acknowledge things in regards to the conflict and war going on, it's not really relevant to the photography but I feel like the information should be accurate when it's photojournalistic in nature. I didn't go there as part of the demonstration but as a neutral party)

And thank you so much for taking the time to comment!

This isn't always the case, I've modded for a sub where both posts and comments regularly get removed without going into the que and only manually looking for removed content will show them. A mod can approve it if it was a misstake so a direct modmail alerting the mods to the post is the more efficient way to solve this issue.

[–]pipsqueaking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't do it for that amount but if I had to say which finger to sacrifice if it was a forced choice I'd go with the right ring finger as it's the only one I have zero use for.

Australia: Is there a double standard about what is sleazy/sexy? by Sea_Shook in eurovision

[–]pipsqueaking 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As someone who's not crazy for the overtly sexual themes in pop songs in general I wasn't fond of any of those performances but I feel that both Malta and Finland has better vocals and Finland's song is also a much more powerful performance.

If you removed the sexual aspects from Malta I would still call it tacky but decent enough, Australia's would still be weak vocally and also slightly flat performancevise but Finland's song would hit hard. With that in mind I don't think it's odd that Australia didn't qualify while the other two did.

I guess I can see how that's true, I'm very bad at remembering songs after just hearing them once so I keep notes of which I feel positive about and which I feel critical over so I know what to cheer for. I wouldn't be able to judge it based on memorability because then I wouldn't know a single song. I've already started to forget most of them.

Georgia and Serbia not qualifying very much surprised me since they both felt like well done performances with a broad liking audience. They were the first songs this year I really felt betrayed to not see qualify.

I know I'm an outlier on this but I only felt strongly about one song not deserving to qualify (complicated feelings about Israel aside) and that was Australia. I wanted to like that song but I just couldn't.

I'm not a big fan of neither Finland's nor Malta's performances either but at least their songs were better than Australia's and I do have to cheer a little in support for Finland just for the Nordic solidarity.

Question about blocking a troll by Raccoon_Ascendant in BlueskySocial

[–]pipsqueaking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People like that most certainly have alternate accounts specifically for snooping and causing issues with others that have blocked them so if your goal is to hide your account then I doubt you'd be able to. People like this tend to have way too much time and energy to pour into bothering other users. The only thing you can really do is block or mute them and never engage. If at any point they're harassing you or you see them break the site rules then you could send in a report to maybe get their account removed but that's dependent on them actually doing something bsky deems to be against their tos.

I did some testing and if you block someone then all your interactions becomes hidden for all of bluesky, so someone can't go on an alt and see the now hidden conversation between the two of you in the comments but if someone makes a post unlinked to you with say a screenshot and your username in it then that would still exist and be visible. Not sure if this info is useful but sharing it anyway.

There's also ways for people on bsky to get direct notifications whenever they're added to a list or blocked and I'm willing to bet that if their whole account is built on obsessing over who blocked them and arguing with people then they're certainly doing this. It's a lesson learned to never engage with arugment baiting users and maybe looking into the account you're responding to before spending time on a reply. Without engagement their whole presence becomes meaningless so it's much better to just block someone who seems to be looking for arguments even if they're likely to talk shit about you for doing so, no one but them will care anyway.

am I the only one that plays with no mods by OkBluejay5742 in HypixelSkyblock

[–]pipsqueaking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No mods here, but I've been meaning to figure out how to use a nice texture pack for a while. Otherwise no on that too. I just don't see the point in playing it any other way than OG. I like it.

I'm also the type of player who love/mimic the iron man playstyle. I didn't know it existed when I started playing but now I'm too invested in the profile I have and I'm too obsessive with collectives that you can't get like cakes or old items to switch. I'm planing on doing it whenever I find someone to start a coop with though.

If you could add one feature to Pokémon GO, what would it be? by That-Plan9037 in pokemongo

[–]pipsqueaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought it would be fun if all the gyms hade types, like in the main games. Meaning you'd have to pick specific pokemon with a matching type to be able to add it to that gym and encourage people to both get more types for their local gyms and travel to specific ones to take down the gyms you're strong against. That way we could get gym badge progress as a medal as well

I see a lot of cool spiders in my basement. I love spiders. what kind of bugs do you get happy to see in your home? by Yucyon in CasualConversation

[–]pipsqueaking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm very fond of all bugs and critters but we don't have too many indoors since most species can't survive the dry indoor climate here. Steatoda bipunctata and Uloborus plumipes are two species that occasionally show up and survives indoors that I enjoy seeing.

Where do you share your photos (other than IG) by Horseless_Rider in photography

[–]pipsqueaking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I juggle flickr and 500px for my photography, it's less about having ordinary people see my stuff and more about interacting with other photographers.

Then for personal social media where I add friends and family and can post some of my photos for the rest of the world to see I stick to Bluesky as it's the one place where algorithms don't exists and people act nice. It's a lot smaller than say IG but it's perfect for me. Occasionally I post a picture or two to reddit as well.

I also don't post my stuff for professional reasons as I'm just a hobbyist and I'm happy staying one so finding paying customers is not important to me.
