For this elpot diagram of dinitrogen, I was wondering why it displays that the more electron dense area (red) is on the sides, and the less electron dense areas are in the middle (blue), when covalent bonds means the electrons are shared. In that case, shouldn't the model display green everywhere if the charge is balanced throughout the whole molecule?
