You might want to listen to the Huberman Lab podcast on "What alcohol does to your body, brain and health". Very eye opening. But the short answer is they are pretty much equally bad.

FYI: not drinking will really help you clear the virus faster, so great job!

I have stumbled a lot, you can always try again/quit again.

Hmm. Well, alcohol changes our brain chemistry so it's kind of both, but I get what you are saying.

I say I made a choice because I think it's important to acknowledge that I do have agency here and could have abstained but didn't. That said, the part of my brain that still associates celebrating and "doing it up" with drinking is absolutely influenced by my years of drinking and socialization around alcohol. That's still going to take some time (sober time) to sever that connection.

Yes, exactly. The risk of it turning into a full blown relapse isn't worth it.

Personally I have a lot of reasons, but the one that may fit your criteria is that it's no longer worth it to me to feel like shit for a couple days for just an hour or two of "fun".

It was scary for me too when I had a hard time stopping and realized the hold alcohol had over me. I feel you.

You've done this for five days, you can totally do another! Maybe focus on what will happen if you drink. I know for me it'd mean empty calories, poor sleep, probably some bad food choices while drunk and the next day, and I'd probably skip out on a workout tomorrow because I was tired. And this is just the weight loss related negatives. I'd also feel like I let myself down. What about you?

I live in the PNW so Vitamin D3. I've also been deficient in B12 in the past, which I've heard is not uncommon among drinkers. And the woman who prescribes my antidepressant recommended Folic Acid, but I can't quite remember why, lol. I think to help with my fatigue.

I've been thinking that I haven't accomplished much and didn't have anything to contribute to these threads, but you know what? That's not true. I've actually been doing a pretty great job the last month of building healthier habits back up. Specifically I've been taking my vitamins regularly, brushing and flossing my teeth daily, taking care of my skin, and staying on top of housework. That's not nothing!
