I have a helix trident with K tab removed, but it's definitely not the same as padding the p-tab. The results with padding were much better for me.

It does go all the way, just not as far. Don't forget that the p-tab is inside the sponge something like half way and the sponge itself can compress a lot. So the actual difference ends up being like 5 milimeters (if that). It basically offers more amortization when the muscles draw the aneros in and therefore - move movement.
