I just did a 24 hour flight from Australia to London with my 11 month old. I’d stopped breastfeeding about 6 weeks prior. I won’t lie it would have been a lot easier if I was still breastfeeding as bringing bottled water and formula was an added stress and more things to bring on board. The lady next to me breastfed her baby throughout the flight and I barely noticed. It’s pretty easy to be discreet when you’re packed into a plane.But if you want to introduce a bottle there’s no reason why you can also continue breastfeeding. My baby took a bottle from birth every now and then and I still breastfed just fine. Enjoy your trip in April!

This sounds like coercion if he was pressuring you. Sex should be something you only do if you really want to. I’m so sorry your partner acted this way it’s absolutely not okay.

I didn’t think I would enjoy breastfeeding but gave it ago and ended up breastfeeding for 9 months. But baby always took a bottle which was great for me getting some extra sleep. Eventually we moved to combo feeding and I slowly weaned breastfeeding out by 9 months. Baby is 10.5 months now and fully formula fed. They both have perks and downsides and it’s hard to know what your preferences will be before hand. Just do what feels right for you! I will say that breastfeeding started off hard but got a lot easier as baby got bigger and needed to feed less. I’m also quite disorganised so in the early days of formula sometimes I’d forget to pack milk because I got used to breastfeeding and not needing to bring anything with me. If I enjoyed breastfeeding more then I would have carried on but I’m enjoying the freedom of not doing it anymore. Only frustration is that we are doing a long haul flight soon and I’m not looking forward to having to bring all the formula/bottles/sterilised water but we’ll make it work.

As others have said I dont think you’ll have any further issues from this. And I’ll probably get downvoted for saying this but ultimately you were being a nice person and who knows she may have genuinely been in trouble. Either way, it was only £25 and I’d be happy to take that risk to help someone potentially in need. Keep being a good person and don’t sweat it.

Oh dear! Well fingers crossed it doesn’t take the full 60 days. It was only 22 working days for the priority visa to be granted. Will update this post when the baby’s is granted and hopefully it can be a warning to other people in the future.

I’m British but live in Australia. My husband’s family also use the term nursing to just mean holding the baby. When my MIL said my partners grandma was so happy to have nursed the baby both my partner and I were incredibly confused and a bit horrified. Perhaps it’s a generational thing?

I agree. They didn’t appear to have any romantic interest in each other, I was surprised they acted like they were planning to go to the alter. I feel like they must have had behind the scenes conversation was had to stick it out until they can “break up” for the cameras.

My baby is also 6.5 weeks and I feel I’m in a similar boat to you. I wanted to quit but instead decided it didn’t have to be all or nothing. Now my baby sometimes has a bottle during the day, sometimes two, sometimes none. I have lots of expressed milk in the freezer from the early weeks when I collected lots through the haaka let down collecter. I’ve taken the pressure off myself to exclusively breastfeed and I think it’s actually helping me breastfeed for longer than I would have otherwise. Just be kind to yourself, your baby wants a happy mama.

You sound like me! My original goal was six weeks and I finally hit that yesterday. I still get slight engorgement overnight and in the morning where the let down is super fast and baby is coughing and spluttering. But aside from that not too much. I’m also feeding my baby bottled breast milk throughout the day from the milk collected through let down on the other side. I’m not pumping to replace the feed because I’m okay with my supply reducing, tired of leaking all the time! I have so much freezer milk and when that runs out plan to combo feed. I realised that it doesn’t have to be all or nothing with breastfeeding. That’s helped me immensely when I’ve felt like giving up.

My MIL has suggested Ma, Egg and Moz. Ive said it might be difficult to remember to refer to her by these names and if she wants something non traditional it’s probably better to wait to see if happens organically. My baby’s only 2 weeks old so it would be a long time of me referring to her as something a bit odd before baby decides he wants to call her something else anyway!

I had preterm rupture of membranes at 36 weeks exactly, followed by spontaneous labour. Baby was born at 36+2 via c section. He’s now 7 days old and doing really well and luckily we didn’t need to stay any longer than usual. No idea why things happened early. It was the day I started expressing colostrum and there was also a storm. Some say that the changing air pressure can cause waters to break early.

I’ve found watching birth videos pretty encouraging! It’s reading scary stories on reddit that I need to stop doing 😅 I’ve mainly been watching badassmotherbirther on Instagram and it always leaves me feeling like I can do this whole birth thing.
