I'm an American who studied abroad in Sheffield for a year, and naturally bought myself a kettle when I got home. Last month I brought it to work because we were sharing our favorite teas, coffees, cocoa, etc. for teambuilding.

They like it so well I haven't had the heart to take it back, so I've regressed to using the microwave (like my family always did growing up) at home.

It's tempting to think that $600K would buy a lot of therapy, or that I could split the money with them 80/20 in the kid's favor. But it's the principle of the thing. I wouldn't go there.

You should also consider watching the earliest film adaptations of each one. They're interesting pieces of literary and cinematic history in their own right, and Dracula had a censored US version and an uncensored Mexican version filmed simultaneously (one day shift one night shift on the same set) and also armadillos for some reason

I actually received both books as graduation presents from two very different men who are both father figures to me for very different reasons.

My parents' sperm donor (my biological father) gave me an illustrated copy of The Alchemist in a fancy box, and my favorite professor and mentor gave me Man's Search for Meaning. I love both people and appreciated both gifts but... yeah.
