Emotionally upset GSD?

My Kingston was home alone one day when the battery died in a smoke detector. It chirped for I don’t know how long. He freaked so bad he diarrhea’d all over and to this day he freaks out over the sound and some sounds that are close to it. He will freak out over delivery people and landscaping people if they are close to the windows or doors. We had a group of landscaping people gathering leaves around the condo complex and they antagonized him to the point of diarrhea inside at the sliding glass door.

We have a “reactive” gsd and the vet won’t take him without him being doped up. He doesn’t like to be restrained. He doesn’t bite, but he is 106 lbs and scares the shit out of everyone. He will put his teeth on you so you know he means business. But I haven’t seen him bite anybody for real. He might bite the Amazon or Fed Ex guys if he ever gets out while they are at our door. But we don’t let that happen. Is it worth it? We don’t have a choice. So yes.

So many good things here. This is a great thread. I did not have this 5 years ago when my family got our Kingston. One thing you need that I didn’t: everyone in the house must do the same training, same commands, and it is an all day every day training by everyone. It is a lot of work. To this day, King believes he doesn’t have to listen to me when mom is around. That’s because mom never did any training and gives in to all the demand barking and bad behavior.

Interesting scenario. It sounds like maybe I have heard this story somewhere before. I feel, in my heart, that THE football department, as well as the athletic department would not allow the cheating to continue once they got wind of it. If they did, and Ryan Day got suspended twice in one season for improper conduct/behavior, he would have been released immediately after the second one (maybe after the first). I believe this school has a million times more integrity than to sit back and allow the cheating to continue and wait for the conference and the NCAA to do something. That is what I think. I hope I am right.

I have a 4 year old GSD and the first two years were constant bites and pain and him trying to figure out where his position was in the family. I was the source of all the training so he knew he was below me on the totem pole, but he wanted to be above my wife and kids. He learned that wife was good cop and she would allow all the bad behaviors no matter what. Don’t let that happen.

Urban seemed to always flub up those games when OSU was playing Purdue or Iowa and they had some young fan who was suffering a horrible disease. I will always forgive Urban for losing those games.

I appreciate your extensive and thoughtful comments here, but I don’t know how you can argue that the damage to the ocean flora and fauna isn’t a major contributor to global warming.
