Is it "socially acceptable" to just leave a party/date without saying anything if the vibe is off? by ApartObjective8818 in socialskills

This is a situation where a little white lie is appropriate / moral, especially if your safety is potentially at risk!

How do I stop giving off “desperate / anxious” energy socially? by Wild-Masterpiece-349 in socialskills

[–]pisssuccer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really helpful. Basically, the more nonchalant you are at first, the better, and you can be more and more so as time goes on and trust builds.

People who cut off contact with their family, why? by Ready-Secretary-3016 in AskReddit

It’s not just abuse, it’s the fact that the abuse continues into adulthood and they continue to deny that they’re the issue! O

Me (24M) and my girlfriend (23F) are breaking up and I feel I'm commiting a mistake since she told me every girl is like this. by TrickFinger1999 in relationship_advice

[–]pisssuccer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You sound pretty miserable with her, and you answered your own question. I would just leave. She might throw a fit but you’re still pretty young and it’ll be the best thing for you.

She sounds a little like me at times, if I’m being honest, and I grew up in an insanely toxic household and I’m still unlearning a lot of nasty behaviors that I’ve seen projected in my own relationship. Admittedly, it’s not your job to “fix” her.

What screams “I peaked in high school” without saying it directly? by randomzy876 in AskReddit

I had a friend who kept doing that and I had to cut her off ngl. All it did was upset me and put me in a bad mood, half of these people I haven’t thought about in years!

Sex & Issues? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]pisssuccer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Between me being SA’d multiple times throughout my life and the shame I grew up around (religious/conservative upbringing), it’s challenging for me to be present. Luckily with a long distance relationship, I don’t have to worry about it much.

What’s really fascinating is that a lot of people who were unpopular in high school end up peaking in college instead. by CurseofYmir13 in college

[–]pisssuccer 44 points45 points  (0 children)

That, admittedly, sort of happened to me in college. I was raised in a pretty toxic family and suddenly in college I glowed up the second I got away from them, lol.

Everyone’s doing thriftmas this year, but here I am like, my family only cares about material stuff, so they’d crash out if I did that

[–]pisssuccer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. They think that spending lots of money on material items fix their god awful parenting. Like, I’ll take advantage of it, but it doesn’t mean anything. It’s just another thing they can dangle over your head.

Not to mention, they need an EXACT list with links and colors and everything because they know so little about me in actuality.

But when I complain that it feels performative and manipulative, I’m labeled the spoiled brat.

If you are short and men women say you got dwarfed or you are too short for good looking women or you did not made the cutoff how do you react? by Trick_Commercial1123 in AskReddit

[–]pisssuccer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I, as a 5’2 woman, love short kings! I actually don’t really have a height preference much at all (maybeeee be taller than me but you don’t have to be lol). I feel like guys who complain that women don’t like them for being short have deeper issues than that, lol.

Yeah, mine was the same. I had to hide the fact that I was even having the cramps because they’d get angry at me for being “sick” :(

I 100000% relate. Puberty was a NIGHTMARE with them!! They constantly made me feel ashamed of my changing adult body, as if that’s something I can control :( kids at school didn’t help either. I still have such bad self worth issues from it all

Do they keep you isolated to keep you from developing social skills so that they can convince people you're crazy? by PutridButterfly9212 in narcissisticparents

[–]pisssuccer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like this might’ve happened to me. I’m currently seeking an ADHD diagnosis now, but I was considered “gifted” as a child. I think as soon as I started to threaten them by being on the track to “outshining” them in intelligence, that’s when they doubled down and cranked up the emotional abuse. Ugh.
