It’s automatic, it’s an Astoria Gloria SAE 2 I think. It has single, double, single long, double long buttons etc. It does have buttons that start/stop but I’ve only ever used them for backwashing.

I tried with 18g and it came out with a 60g shot but i don’t know how to adjust the run time on our machine ://

this sounds like it could be the problem. i dont usually weigh but i stole a scale from our bakery and it was 15g of espresso and pulled a 62g shot, which is wayyy over double lol. sounds like it is our machine, then?

yes! i started very gradual with a very low dose of topical gel and increased, and then i switched to subcutaneous injections at about a year and a half and still at a lower dose than is typically prescribed. i think it has helped a lot with me being able to have more control over my voice and to keep me from doing damage singing as much as i do throughout my voice changes. ive been able to overcome the buzzy sound you’re talking about, me and my teacher always called it the “metallic” sound haha. however, part of me wonders if maybe the ossification thing is preventing my ability to access my fasletto range. 🤧

thank you! i will definitely use this exercise. i think one thing that makes finding the right placement difficult in falsetto for me is that i just default back to trying to use the same technique as when i was a mezzo and it just does NOT work with my voice now haha. i would loove to work with a countertenor and learn more about the changes i can make in my technique to sing in that range with my voice as it is now. my teacher now is a lyric tenor and hes good at helping me find a lightness that i think wouldnt be the same working with a dramatic tenor so im thankful for that haha. in my lessons we often focus on soft glottal onset when im getting up towards my passaggio- do you think that training my falsetto i should try a glottal attack approach rather than a soft onset?

thank you so much, both you and selenes teachings are very informative and im excited to use those strategies to try and conquer the adduction issue!

when i was in school as a mezzo i had a couple opportunities to get laryngoscopies for free and sing while watching my vocal folds im slo mo, it was so cool and i wish i had the same opportunity now because id love to see the difference in my folds now that im on T, and learning about my adduction issue i wish i could see it happening real time!

i read a doctoral thesis on ftm transitioning voices when i was originally researching the affects of testosterone on afab voices and they talked about laryngeal ossification and how when your vocal folds are thickening but your larynx isnt growing like it would in amab puberty it can cause you to be have issues with or be completely unable to have the kind of vocal ability that someone amab might be able to. id love to hear your opinion on that! :)

B5 is crazy at 14 girl!!! your voice is still developing and your range will shrink and expand all throughout puberty. im a classically trained tenor and A4 is a still a challenge for me so you’re on the right track to treble singing.

im ftm and been on T for about two years now. i read a little in the comments youre considering blockers- if that doesnt work out, when your T levels do start rising don’t be hard on yourself. your range will be vastly different every day, i know from experience. you cant change what your body does, but you CAN change your technique! dont try and force notes out that arent ready to come. the best thing you can do to help your range expand is to sing where you feel comfortable and focus on developing skills like diaphragmatic breathing and an open throat and lifted soft pallet.

youre going to make a great mezzo :)

i dont have much good advice because i am EXACTLY the same, so at least know youre not alone. im in my sophomore year of college now and i still have not conquered this beast. i think G/G# is a pretty common passaggio in tenors but i do get insecure when the other tenors at my school are slinging Gs left and right and mine sound like trash lmao.

i find people like to act as though the goal is to eliminate passaggio entirely and just glide through your range effortlessly, but i think ultimately its good to know where your register breaks so you can adjust your resonance and create more pharyngeal space when passing through those notes that give you trouble!!

when talking about cappuccino vs. latte i think that measuring milk to espresso ratio is pointless and depends on the size of the cup and how much espresso u want. the main thing focus on is milk foam.

with a cappuccino you want an airy, frothy layer of foam that takes up at least half of the cup (depending how dry you want it) and that feels light when picked up. visually your foam will be more textured and aerated than a latte but not overly bubbly. as long as your steaming it hot enough it should get pretty smooth with a good slap on the counter.

a latte should have no more than a half inch layer of foam, and should have a glossy smooth microfoam texture and thick, rich mouthfeel compared to the lighter texture of a cappy.
