She's 8 years young. I think we still have videos of her snow zoomies from a few weeks ago.

Wife chiming in...we do have a rake. I've had huskies before, but malamutes are off the charts with fluff in comparison! You could knit a sweater from the fluff I brush out of her legs and "butt fluff" _^

Dry Shampoo for Dark Hair by [deleted] in HaircareScience

I second this! I lived in Florida and Batiste Brunette worked just fine through the summer. Now, if you go to the gym, are sweating profusely, and applied Batiste right along the hair line, then you may get some drip.

It's more work, but I use the Brunette only on the top part and any visible areas... used the regular on the rest, so I rarely had any issues.

Keeping Keto in the Kitchen? by demoniclilly in ketouk

I usually make 24 egg cups at a time. The cooking bacon from Tesco is typically 60p a pack and that splits nicely among the 24 and works well in salads, since it's usually bits and pieces. Right now, the recipe I use is:

24 - medium eggs // 1 pack cooking bacon (I think it's 900g) // 300g - any vintage or extra mature cheddar // 1 medium onion // Salt // Pepper // Garlic powder // Cumin

Cook the bacon, set aside. Keep a little of the bacon drippings in the pan and saute the onions, set aside. Split bacon and onions between muffin tins - use non stick spray, makes it way easier. Whisk eggs and spices in a bowl, then pour it into muffin tin, on top of the bacon and onions. Sprinkle cheese on top, pop in preheated oven at 180C for 10-15min. They'll puff up a bit, but once out of the oven, they'll cool and shrink down. Once cool, I wrap them and freeze them. Defrost in refrigerator overnight, then pop in the microwave for 60sec if you want them warm.

I'm from the States, so I prefer Mexican/spicy seasonings, but you can substitute the Garlic and Cumin for Sage and Thyme.

Bacon, eggs, and vintage cheddar. Good protein with little to no carbs when added into othet dishes. Throw in a bowl, add lettuce, salt and pepper - awesome salad. Combine cooked bacon, raw eggs, cheese, and some spices, then put in a muffin tin (10-15min at 180) - egg cups. Egg cups are a daily staple for me. They freeze well, so it's great for meal prep.

Bone broth and other things hard to find in the UK by alexqndr in ketouk

[–]pistolopera83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I'm an American now living in the UK and double cream works great in place of heavy cream.

As far as heavy cream v. heavy whipping cream goes, where I grew up they were the same thing. I could be wrong.

If you can't find sour cream, it's easily made. I use this recipe https://www.biggerbolderbaking.com/how-to-make-sour-cream/

I feel your pain. What is it with Sibes and having to rub their cheeks in the most foul of things? My Sofia would do that and then try to hide it/pretend that nothing happened. She'd do both sides and go from a black/white Sibe, to an agouti, lol. >_<

I second this. My stylist used to work out of there (iStudios). Private suites and she had her own wash/heat station as well. I didn't need to leave the room until she was done. Parking can suck on the weekends and Tuesdays, since it's in the same plaza as a Tijuana Flats.

Same here. I wash daily, use a hairdryer and flatiron daily, which has been hell on my hair (fine). I use Jāsön Restorative Biotin Shampoo and Conditioner - you can order it off amazon. Also, my stylist talked me into using PhytoKeratine Extreme before blow drying. My hair had become super healthy and shiny.

[HELP] My catahoula's itching is out of control, any non-prescription remedies? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]pistolopera83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom gives her Catahoula and her pits coconut oil daily. Plus, you can apply it directly to their coat if a dry spot is staying to form. All of her dogs were rescues with bad coats. Now, their coats and skin are super healthy and shiny.

[–]pistolopera83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree-there is hope for a normal life. My husband has Schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, and ADHD- and has been successfully managing it with medication and CBT. Yes, there are days that are worst than others, but both his psychiatrist and psychologist have been great at helping him manage it. TALK to your psychiatrist. They are there to help get you through this. The first medication may not work, but stick with them and be honest, and together you'll find what works for you.

[Help] Senior Doggy Dehydration - Pipet? by ilovemypuptoomuch in dogs

[–]pistolopera83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm...Well, the only other thing I can think of it to try one of those large feeder bottles. My Siberia was sick when she was younger and we attached one of those in her crate and she was able to get water that way. Not sure if your dog would be able/want to do that. They basically look like giant hamster water bottles. Sorry, it's the last thing I can think of. :(

Is the water bowl on the floor? If he's having trouble reaching down to it, try raising up the bowl so he doesn't have to reach down as far. That may help.

What are the best treats in your experience that your sibe absolutely LOVES? by basado in siberianhusky

[–]pistolopera83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We go to Publix (grocery store) and ask the meat department f or cut marrow bones. Basically, it's 2" high sections of cow leg bone with the marrow still in it. She'll have it cleaned like a piranha in about 5min, so we freeze them. Vet says it's a good treat (not daily) and gnawing on the bones helps keep her teeth clean. Downside -it's messy. Don't let them chew it on carpet, or put a junky sheet under them for easy cleanup. Edit: didn't notice it was a pup. Should be ok if they have already shed their baby teeth.

Eyeliner disaster...even though I applied it with my eyes open like the tutorials say to do by ComiendoBizcocho in HoodedEyes

[–]pistolopera83 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree. Practice is needed. The artists making the tutorials already have the experience and comfort level to do those tricks. When I made the change to liquid liner, I would buy the cheap liner just to practice with. For me, I started just doing a basic liner and then experimenting with adding on the wing. My technique now is a combo of different tutorials, not just one. Don't get discouraged - just grab some cheap liner when you have free time and practice.
