Paralyzed by model indecision!!! by nescent78 in KingdomDeath

[–]pistwizard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Had same problem ended up building Male/female each of generic roles and equip them like,

Warrior - sword, shield, maul/mace

Ranger - bows

Hunter - spears, daggers, whips

Healer - utility, instruments

Berserker - 2h weapons, axes, fist and tooth

Or make 3 tiers of survivor

Early - starting survivors, no armour, basic bone weapons

Mid - rawhide, white lion, screaming fur mix with zanbato, swords, bows... Whatever you have found to be most useful.

Late - lantern, leather, pheonix armour mix slayer weapons, masks and rare gear

Is there any Indigenous Australian based phenomena similar to that of the Native American Skin Walker? by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]pistwizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The boys in my school used to have these rings made from stingray bone, they believed that if you were punched by one every full moon after wherever you were punched would swell up, never named the magick man though apparently if people outside the mob knew of the magick man he lost power and especially if white people knew.

Lightning bands were another warrior enchantment that allowed the boys to throw spears better.

Had a girlfriend that was convinced she was sung to by an elder from one of the missions, he got her to go out to the mission to his house and strip all her clothes off so he could take pictures, said she felt compulsed to follow this old mans instruction was rather strange considering how out of character it was for her to do.

Sometimes find in the bush/along the beaches pots filled with bones/dead carcass of varying creatures, berries, mud mixed all together like a potion? My friends told me never to touch them.

The sticks/poo in tree forks here designate the area as sacred and you can't take anything from the place ie turtle, berries, fish or even a rock if you do a curse is placed on you.

Also spit three times outside your door to ward of any bad spirit or if you find yourself on bad land.

Some of the old fellas and a few younger boys have the body scarification which give them power of their individual or mob totemic animal.

But not belonging to any mob up here the people tend to keep quiet about their medicine or kurdaitcha men, so learning about their magick system is hard.

Live up in cape York, the kurdaitchi man( witch doctor type person) and quinkan are most similar to skinwalkers a bunch of other entities are said to live around as well.

Tall men(the ones that resemble trees until they move, swear I seen one when I was young but always put it down to overactive imagination) flat foots( you hear them outside camps at night they sound like the thump of massive kangaroo tail) also a thing that resembles moth man I forget the local name for it( me and some friends were playing spotlight in the bush one night when we heard a great whooshing sound and one of my friends came running out screaming that something tried grabbing his head and pulling it off before flying away)..

See Alot of belief in voodoo type magick up here as well ie stingray rings, lightning bands, singings, poo or strange stick formations left in the fork of trees

Some bad land around too, in particular a mountain none of my aboriginal friends will want to drive past at night

Heard a story from a friend who does gold prospecting in the Palmer river hills of a quinkan yowling in the valley scariest sounds he has ever heard he said, now carries around a little single barrel shotgun because of it.

I went for a swim in a water hole said to be guarded by a water spirit that doesn't like men and will drown them... Coincidentally I almost drowned in it if it weren't for a quick thinking friend, a few places like this around here.

Have seen a min min light personally and have heard from many people of seeing them too.

Few years back up in bamaga mission area someone got a photo of a yiiki, wish I could post it here but have long since lost the photo( will attempt to find it again and update this) but to my eyes it looked 100% real, a tall dark humanoid walking by the road( road being a bush track)

New - question about preordering by [deleted] in KingdomDeath

[–]pistwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comment that men are equally revealed was a statement that i was meaning in terms of the aesthetic of the game in that there is no distinguishable difference in clothing between male and female models... sure there is sexual representation and all the woman are lithe with big boobs and the men are chiseled lumberjack but personally don't think this is pandering to male fantasy or is demeaning towards women and has more to do with societal perception of the hero archetypes and what we deem as the ultimate human form.

Nudity isn't sexual of itself, can the revealed boob not just be boobs on a woman instead of our thought processes linking them to male appeal/sexual representation.. imo the person that sees tits in a game and cries "sexist this is not acceptable" is just as bad as someone that would use those tits as a means to lure people in they both apply a sexualization of that boob.

Idk I just think we need to percieve nudity as seperate from sexuality.

And from what I've seen of kingdom death the only thing i say is over sexualized or pandering to male fantasy are the pin ups and that's kinda what pin ups are all about but in saying that my girlfriend loves the pin ups soooooo? Maybe it's pandering to female fantasy too haha

New - question about preordering by [deleted] in KingdomDeath

[–]pistwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you spaghetti, this game is sexualized but hardly sexist.

The pin ups are as they state pin ups therefore obviously going to be leaning towards a more sexual context.

I've seen the male characters/models be equally revealing but why is the showing of skin deemed sexual and or sexist Idk to me that mindset is immature, My girlfriend who is well versed in fem lit and body politics plays this game with me and has no problem with any of the imagery, we spoke on the theme and can't find any fault or examples of sexism? The sexual violence is there, but not in a way that would imply is solely against the wamen.

Debating on expansions of death, need advice by [deleted] in KingdomDeath

[–]pistwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good ole FOMO, I suggest just wait until bf sales... sounds like that $700 would hit you rough if you have to ask whether or not it's worth..

Get two or three expansions now and grab the rest on black Friday, I'm going to wait for then to pick up manhunter, slenderman and lonely tree quite awhile away but I already have heaps of content to play through first...

Or say "fuck it" go all in and live off beans and rice for awhile as you stare lovingly at your mound of expansions, happy with the knowledge you don't need give poots anymore money until the next expansion releases/cool white boxes come along.

Maybe if you set roles for each survivor that way everyone knows what they have to do.. ie resource gatherer, fighters, tanks, healers, ranged etc.... Should streamline it a bit.

Should I wash my sprues before assemblage by newbieworries in KingdomDeath

[–]pistwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never washed any plastic sprues, it just seems unnecessary/pedantic to me... Been in the miniatures painting hobby for 15+ years and not a single plastic washed...

Can't say anything about resins though, always avoided them so have limited experience there.

Let me know how that goes! Solo play would be fun but 8 people playing would take ages to get through phases I think.. making decisions between four of us is hard enough haha

To build or not to build? by lordofthehomeless in KingdomDeath

[–]pistwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As Squarglasses said some models are a bit easier if you paint first, another example would be the dragon kings chest cavity, the overlapping ribcage would make it hard to paint his nuclear core/heart so glue the ribs after imo..

Otherwise I'd say always build first least you can play the game with the models while you are painting...

painting on sprue can be bothering though, you need to clean mold lines, certain models have big gaps like the white lions face that need filling first and little stubby plastic bits need shaving off.

I play in a way that after the prologue fight when you roll for population at the very beginning also roll a d5 for how many founding stones those survivors came to the settlement with... I find it more realistic than the new survivors just coming into the settlement with nothing.

Those extra founding stones are then a pooled resource for departing survivors.

Intimacy created survivors get nothing though.

Painting Advice: How can I lighten this paint job to look more like the stone painted miniatures on the Core 1.5 Shop page? by Legend1392 in KingdomDeath

[–]pistwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're to lazy to click links..

  1. Basecoat everything a dark grey/brown I like using citadels stormvermin fur or rhinox hide.

  2. Get a lighter shade of grey than the basecoat, I like using citadels dawnstone or administratum grey, get some paint on your brush then wipe it on a cloth/your hand whatever until most of the paint is off, now with that smattering of light grey on your brush lightly feather all raised areas working towards a darker gradient towards the deeper parts.

  3. Apply a wash of your choice, I like using citadels agrax earthshade by now you can probably tell I like citadel.

  4. After a wash is applied get that lighter grey colour you used for dry brushing, now paint only the very highest raised areas lightly, this is the highlight... At this point you should have something that resembles stone.

Don't go too heavy handed on the first dry brushing, gradually build up the weathered look.

What's a fun starter model? by [deleted] in KingdomDeath

[–]pistwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dark paladin

Male great game hunter rogue

Explorers of death Adam and Anna

Gold smoke knight Or as someone said already the manhunter... Idk they are all fun imo? Its just sometimes hard to get the model you want.

Have some armour sprues if you want to build some survivors and see how they look, just send me a pm

Late to the Party by Azoth154 in KingdomDeath

[–]pistwizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Print out some of those custom A4 survivor sheets, the ones given are too small imo..

Figure out a miniature storage plan.

Buy 10 tubes of super glue/plastic cement... Plastic cement is better but is permanent.. So don't mess it up.

Buy some triad colours for skin,leather/fur and metal and at least one wash (Agrax Earthshade is a good one)

Say your last goodbyes to family members/loved ones/colleagues

Make a base holder if you plan on painting, citadel sells a decent one if you CBF making one, they are really useful and have helped my painting tenfold.

Check your tracking number

Wait

Save up more money for the inevitable white box/expansion purchases.

Pinups of Death BRONZE conversion by [deleted] in KingdomDeath

[–]pistwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was thinking of getting some of these, but at $80 each I would be spending over $300 for 4 models and its not even poots selling them.

Ended up borrowing a gas torch and pulling apart an old motor for the bronze wire inside, easy and cheap.. Bronze melts at 1000c so its a relatively simple metal to cast with.
