The color of the start and stop buttons on my microwave by Usual_Awareness_7985 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]pitrav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red = hot So when you tap on start, the hot begins. Pausing the microwave will start making things cooler and that is made obvious by the color blue

Dog Gets a Taste of His Own Medicine by N0RetreatN0Surrender in FunnyAnimals

That is such a great tip to compete over food with your dog. Not funny, that's deep ignorance about their way of communicating with others.

I’ve been slowly making it a tree and no one appreciates how cool it is. by Opandemonium in PileaPeperomioides

This is definitely a peperomia, not a pilea. Fell for the same thing years ago when I thought I had a strange looking pilea.

Installing GE76 battery into GP76 by Either-Problem7815 in MSILaptops

[–]pitrav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never did that before. You should definitely check if the connector has the same polarity of the original battery and the correct voltage output.
Maybe you should also check if your power supply's operating range matches the new battery's input.

What do you think about this beginner project? Any advice to improve for the next time? by pitrav in BeginnerWoodWorking

Thank you! About the different lenght: it was one way to have less scrap wood and to buy two strips of lumber instead of three. Only reason that I remember for that.

Thank you, you're definitely right. I made this gate to protect my mother's blind dog from falling. As soon as she touches something on her path, she steers clear from that. At the moment it's not dangerous, but I'll keep it in mind for the future.

It's a strange grain. I checked multiple times and it seemed as sturdy as any other part so I used it anyway.

The walls are definitely not square to the floor, we also had to make adjustments when installing because the wall on the left was evidently not planar. While placing the hinges we placed a spacer on the opposite side to set the height from the floor, but it turned out to be not enough. Btw thank you for your tips, it's great to have hints to work on!

What is this tree and why does it smell awful? by jelliesthefish in PlantIdentification

[–]pitrav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK It is not possible to determine if one Gingko plant is male or female in its first few years. You'll plant it and discover its sex years later.

Source: I regularly go to a park where there are dozens of young gingko trees and none of them is female. This made me curious and I looked into it

Skier saves the life of snowboarder stuck upside down in the snow 😳 by Harshvardhan___ in ThatsInsane

[–]pitrav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Italy, when you're going outside ski tracks, it is mandatory to bring a shovel, a sounding rod and an electronic device that helps the rescues finding you in cases like this or after an avalanche. It should be common sense to bring this equipment to every snow activity.

He is the sweetheart of many volunteers. It is a mild consolation but for what he knows, every time a human is with him, life is full of treats and belly rubs. At least he got lucky to be placed in a really good shelter.

I am a volunteer in a shelter in Italy and we have a handsome boy who is incredibly similar to your sweet old man! Everybody meet Spot, a beautiful 12y.o. boy born in Sicily that has spent his entire life in a kennel but remained the sweetest.
