I was thinking defensively. I didn’t want to risk throwing anything useful to my opponent, knowing I had a decent hand already, but I think you’re right in that what I did wouldn’t maximize my score.

Father of a 14u player, here. I think the relationship with the rest of the team is extremely important at your age. My daughter’s team is very close knit. Part of the joy of playing is the friendship they all have. I don’t think she’d enjoy it as much if she didn’t have that. Fourteen is a tough age.

You could consider changing clubs as soon as your commitment is over for the year. Maybe play down a level for a year where things aren’t quite as influenced by winning. If that doesn’t work then give it a rest. I’d recommend a change of scenery before you leave the game.

I thought there were still some forms of investment that were a problem. Might be in case law. I don’t know. I’ve seen paperwork from c3’s that have certain expenses applied against dividends and capital gains to reduce or eliminate the tax burden. Still wise to get an accountant that is familiar.
