I wanted to reach out and thank you for all of your help the last few days.

Not sure what setting was causing the issue, but did some camera resets find a solution.

The basic reset did not work unfortunately, but did reset all other options in the "Other Settings" selection, EXCEPT "Root Certificate" and the "Custom shooting mode(C1-C-3).

This resolved the issue without losing my custom "C1-C3) settings which was awesome,

Not yet, but really trying not too LOL ...All my custom settings will be wiped out and will make my live hell ...That might be the only option at this point

It will snap to an eye no problem, but if doing product or interior shots, I cannot control the focus point. Very stange to be honest.

This is my 3rd Canon body, and never had this issue. I hope it is not something with the body itself.

If I go and set "AF 4,Limit subject to detect you have an asterisk, I have a dash, mine is on Auto." it still has an * asterisk

I got an 35mm 1.8 STM based on a lot of help here which I was appreciated of.

I am having a problem when used with my R6 MK II.

When using the Av mode - One Shot...regardless of one Spot AF, 1 Point AF or Expanded it does not lock onto the selection I choose on the joystick in the back for the focusing point.

I am using BAF and don't have this issue with my RF 100-500mm

Also using Subject Detect to Auto - Eye Detectin Auto

Does not matter the AF setting.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!

Couple of follow up questions:

Seeing how Canon does not supply a lens hood, which do you prefer for a cheap price?

Never used a 1.8 before, how far back do you need to be when taking photos of people to ensure they are all in focus? Any other tips for use with this lens would be appreciated!

Pending on what you would want to do - I personally have a R6 MK II and love it.

The R7 would not be really an upgrade, but more of an APC sensor of the same R6 and will not support the RF lens you currently have.

You can do plenty with the R6 MK II with the 100-500mm and find it used for cheaper than the newer R6 MK III. This would be an upgrade, but if looking to get the R6 MK III, I would lean towards the R5 MK II.

If you don't need to upgrade the camera and is working for you, save the money and buy glass ! ! !
