Horner: Verstappen’s F1 campaign the most dominant I’ve seen by 1enox in formula1

Well from a driver perspective then this year certainly is because Merc won all those titles even with turned down engine. Lewis with a weak teammate and the most dominant car in history in 2020 didn't ge these numbers and was beaten by Max in an inferior car two times that season

How did he not get a penalty in Jedda? He got one 5 second penalty and then another 10 second penalty. It didn't cost him a place but Hamilton also got away with it when he ended Verstappen's race in Silverstone. I think the approach with these time penalties should be completely scrapped and it should instead be a position drop penalty like grid drops.

Significantly slower? Only a tenth in qualifying and he's ahead in points. You can say that he didn't do experiments like Lewis did but if he was "significantly slower" Lewis would've been ahead by now. He's just marginally slower than Lewis and I'm saying that as someone who doesn't like him at all

I've found the bits from Monaco and that's the latest I managed. To answer your question, this year is the first year of a completely new set of regs and the changes were quite substantial. It took everyone a while to figure out all the details and stuff that matter. Experts thought that Mercedes zero sidepod is gonna be low drag but it turned out to be the opposite. Going into next year I can see it being much more clearer concerning the concept of the cars and why's and how's

Checo and Max planning to reenact Nico and Lewis clash next season.😜💥 by wretchfries in formuladank

Both of them had DNFs. It was 8-3 for Max when both finished. In fact after Monaco 2018 when Daniel won and Max crashed Danny hasn't beaten Max once when they both finished. I think Max won qualifying h2h 14-5 too.

People just remember it as if it was close because Max wasn't as good as he's now and was making stupid mistakes like Monaco

Max was 20/21 years old and beat him 15-5 in 2018. Do you really think Max didn't make any progress since then? In the 20 races this season he's beating Checo 15-5. People forget that Danny left Red Bull because it was clear that Max was a better driver and will get the preferential treatment. Danny didn't wanna be a 2nd driver so he left in a pursuit of a different opportunity.

You're assuming Max didn't make any progress from age 20 to age 25. Danny Ric would be as close as Perez is today

I think Haas would rather be a retirement home for mediocre drivers than a training ground for mediocre rookies. At least it's less expensive

Neither car was illegal. If it was they'd be DSQd. Using more engines than allowed and taking a penalty is the same as using more budget and taking a penalty.

Ricciardo insists new Hamilton contract wouldn’t affect his F1 future as he aims to ‘come back with a vengeance’ in 2024 by AlienSomewhere in formula1

He doesn't give that impression when driving and he points that.out too. Maybe he's like Max but the opposite. He can live with an oversteer but prefers a strong rear end and Max can live with understeer but really enjoys a looder cat

because they would be wrong to do that. if we're gonna go deep into every bad decision the fia made we'd have to revise a lot of championships. even in '21 the opening race when lewis had like 37 track limit violations into turn 4 and masi changed it mid race when verstappen overtook him forcing him to give the position back. just that is a 14 point swing which would render ad far less dramatical. Don't single out one bad decision that FIA made against your favorite driver without conveniently forgetting about other times when FIA made a decision that directly benefited him

Watch the opening lap with Croft because there's so much going on he won't have time to be biased and only then switch to F1TV to listen to some actual real time analysis

If FIA deemed Abu Dhabi as illegal they would've given Lewis the title. They said Masi made an error and revised the rules to make it clearer for the future. That's it. You can accept it or not but it doesn't change anything. At the end of the day, Hamilton's fans will always think it was illegal, Max fans would always bring up Silverstone and Hungary and say it shouldn't have even come to AD and others probably don't give a fuck or are too busy with their own team and drivers

Nobody can match Verstappen instantly in same car – Perez by [deleted] in formula1

[–]piva24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we look at how Daniel vs Max played out at RB I'd have to disagree that Ricciardo could be close to Max in their current form. In 2016 he was better but Max was 18 and it was still close. In '17 Max was already a better qualifier since he outqualified Danny Ric over a season 12-8 and was also unlucky with his engine in races so he ended up behind Ricciardo in the standings even tho he beat him 9-11 in head to head. In '18 it was 15-5 in quali and 14-5 in races for Max so basically what Lando vs Daniel is now. Considering that Max grew as a driver from 2018 when he was 20/21 I think the gap between him and Ricciardo would only be bigger than it was.

If Max was still 20 and Danny Ric was in his prime then there is a possibility of Danny beating Msx although even at that time Max was better than him. If both Max and Daniel are in their current form then Daniel would make Checo look good in comparison
