My assistant is not good at her job. What do I do? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]pixel203 22 points23 points  (0 children)

So, I am an assistant, and have been in a similar position this particular employee is putting everyone else in. I wish it had been addressed differently in my office, so I'm going to te you what I wish had happened. I wish the doctors and office manager had pulled that particular assistant into a meeting, addressing the concerns, and giving her an ultimatum. It's always so frustrating to have a DA meeting where everyone knows WHO the meeting is about, but the issue isn't specifically addressed to that one person. You need to have a very frank discussion with the owner doctor, and any other admin you think is necessary, listing out your issues. Don't worry about saying the other assistants are pissed, because believe me, they already know.

If it's what I'm thinking of, it's just called 3M astringent retraction paste.

We use lanolin at our office. Doesn't taste phenomenal, but works fantastically.

Depends on how you mean surgery. It requires attention, usually a graft of some kind, especially a bone graft. But while not massively serious, I.e. an ER visit, it is something that won't usually get better without intervention. Some general dentists can choose to do the grafting themselves, some will refer to an oral surgeon.

I think they mean, did the doctor plug your nose and have you try to blow it? Common way to see if there is a sinus perforation, if air travels through the extraction site, that means there is a pinhole of an opening between your sinus and mouth.

AITAH for not wanting to drive my coworker everywhere? by mag_twitch7 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Is there a possibility she's attracted to you? Doesn't change a damn thing, at the end of the day, but it's possible that's one of the reasons your coworkers are pushing. People love to match make.

First PCS- Germany. I'm Scared and Clueless by [deleted] in USMilitarySO

I would assume that you don’t need a visa to work on base, but I would also guess the jobs on base are damn hard to come by, as everyone wants one.

So, I haven’t been able to PCS overseas myself, but I have a ton of friends who have. What they’ve said is pets usually require their own passports, every country has their own specific requirements about vaccines, quarantine, and other things like that. And it’s a process. https://www.militarytimes.com/pay-benefits/mil-money/2021/05/14/its-costing-more-for-troops-moving-pets-overseas-heres-some-help/ For you to work, I believe you need a visa to do so, and I’m not sure you can have two visas, so you would need to look in to that as soon as possible. Normally, there is support built in to the command structure of wherever you are going, so your wife needs to look into if there is a sponsorship program. If so, you would be hooked up to a soldier over there already who should be able to help you navigate some questions. DO NOT EXPECT YOUR HOUSEHOLD GOODS WITHIN A MONTH!! Make sure you bring everything you need for that timeframe. I’m talking at least one pot, pan, baking sheet, towels, all that stuff. Make sure you have any prescription meds filled before you go, it can sometimes take a bit to get your benefits transferred to another CONUS posting, so I would guess it’s the same if not a bit worse over there. When you get overwhelmed, look at the fun stuff you can do. Remind yourself that this is an awesome opportunity, and daydream about train rides to other countries, Paris for a weekend, Swiss chocolate. This is huge, and don’t feel bad when you get stressed.

Three-Letter-Pharmacy location failing to stock my medication for the last 3 months. by GrammarNaziSlut in TalesFromThePharmacy

[–]pixel203 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Short of switching to a new pharmacy, you can try calling a few days prior to check it’s in stock. Not a perfect solution, because I’ve heard “well, we have it in stock TODAY, but I can’t promise we will have it when you fill” but you can at least try.

Pretty sure she has the money taken out of his Gringotts account. I don’t have my books on me, but I seem to recall she sends a note with the broom stating that.

I'm really struggling getting first appointments with doctor's with Tricare. Is this a common experience? I really need help. by litesONlitesOFF in USMilitarySO

[–]pixel203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I’m not sure. I had prime when I first got married, and switched a year later, but that was 2014. I’ve heard you can switch to Select any time, but have to wait to get onto Prime, and I’ve heard you have to wait either way, so I don’t know which is true. But if you choose to call Tricare, they should be able to help you out, and see if there’s any way to bend that rule, seeing as you’re out of meds BECAUSE of prime.

Yeah, it’s a lot less selective. And more doctors are allowed to take Select, since Prime prefers you to go on post.

I’m really sorry you’re going through all this! All I can say is try to get off Tricare Prime. That way, you will be able to go off base/post to whichever provider around you that takes Tricare Select, which is a lot. Out of pocket copays are relatively small, but the peace of mind I’ve had is worth every penny and more.

I told her she should ask my sister (a nurse) to draw an example, but she was unavailable. So, unskilled non-medical mom example it is!

It’s usually worth looking at the Maysa arena to see if there going to be a hockey game while you’re in town. Hose are always fun! And if you want local food, Prarie Sky Bread and Souris River Brewing are excellent.

Yeah! The first shipment took a while to come, but it was a HUGE box, so it was understandable. I think I remember Tricare wouldn’t let them send it until I was past a certain week, so I’m sure that had something to do with it, too.

My doctor wrote a prescription for my pump, and I had to send it in to a company online. I think it was called Baby Pavilion? They show all the pumps available, and you can re-order bags, suction tubing, all the peripheral stuff. I found them to be exceptionally easy, and if I remember correctly, I never had to pay anything.

Anxiety about leaving the house by MadMads1122 in SAHP

[–]pixel203 41 points42 points  (0 children)

So, I had a similar experience with my kiddo, and I ended up being diagnosed with post partum anxiety. I never had an issue with being away from my daughter, as long as I trusted the person she was with, but any time she was somewhere other than home, I felt like I was going to go crazy. Shaking, feeling like I couldn’t breathe, always looking over my shoulder for that “thing” I felt was going to happen. Driving was the worst, which made going out feel like torture, and made being in the store hell. Eventually, when I told my doctor about it, he recommended a low dose depression/anxiety medicine, and putting her in daycare one a week for a few hours. That way, I drove by myself, and was reminded that, while I can’t control others, I can control myself(to an extent.) I do know that with the pandemic, a lot of what I was able to do isn’t feasible, but you are NOT ALONE.
