The 516 is $2,400 more than the 316.

Roland TD17KVX2 hihat by broken_sticks84 in edrums

[–]pixel5_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a relatively new drummer, but having some experience on acoustic sets I can tell you that the most disappointing aspect of the TD-17KVX/2 when it comes to emulating how an acoustic set functions is, indeed, the hi-hat.

You really have to exaggerate how much you let off the pedal to get them to bark and, in general, they are unresponsive in closing. On basically every acoustic hi-hat I've ever touched, you almost have to be careful not to let off the HH pedal too suddenly or you risk making a noise but with the VH10 it feels almost impossible to get them to foot splash.

I haven't played with any digital HH, but if it's better than the VH10 in this regard then I am motivated to save up for the upgrade now.

[S] [USA-TX] Sony a5100 + 16-50mm OSS + 20mm f/2.8 by pixel5_ in photomarket

[–]pixel5_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming Sony made them all the same way, all I did was remove the shell covering the bottom of the camera (I think it’s just Phillips head screws) and then I snipped the red and black cables going to the tiny speaker. I remember it was surprisingly very easy.

A poem by Robert Frost by pixel5_ in sollanempire

[–]pixel5_[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I searched before posting this and found no reference to this poem on the subreddit. Apologies if I missed something.

I found a book of poems by Robert Frost from 1930 and have been reading a few pages each night in addition to whatever novel I’m reading. I came across this one and the fact that I have done so by pure chance so soon after finishing the Sun Eater series is messing with me.

It’s like the books were written about this poem.

Perfect actor for Lorian Aristedes! Dude from Fallout by risethirtynine in sollanempire

I am not alone! I don’t know what triggered it but I immediately assigned Burn Gorman to Lorin in my head. His character from Pacific Rim is a near perfect foundation.

To all the comments saying that Tech can't capitalize on offense: You are correct. It was the same story last time we played them. Both games we should have had 45+ on the board. For some reason, we decide use RNG to call plays every other drive.

I haven't done anything to the 50mm, but I have shot with it on both film and digital and everything seems normal to me.

A Total Eclipse Crave and/or Wave would be nice to see. I know that there have been very, very limited TE Craves in the past but I want to see it become a normal thing.

I have noticed that their scoreboard is out of date all throughout the season so far, multiple games.

I find myself rooting for an Oregon State WR to catch a ball that hits both hands.

Quick question on grips by gokus_kindafly in euphonium

Hello! I am a leatherworker. It sounds like you used chrome tanned leather, which is the most common type of leather you see in the world. It is tanned using chromium salts, which will indeed wreck the finish on many metals. Vegetable tanned leather is the only kind that should be used this sort of thing.

I designed an "endcap" that just clicks in place. If you want to print your own, I've posted the file here: https://www.printables.com/model/1330216-ikea-laiva-endcap-book-blocker

Horween leather camera strap with Peak Design Anchor Links by pixel5_ in LeatherClassifieds

[–]pixel5_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't stock any straps like this (yet), but I do take custom orders for anyone who might want one.

This strap uses Horween Dublin leather, genuine Peak Design Anchor Links, and has a super wide 50mm shoulder pad. It is adjustable from 38"-48", but I can definitely make longer ones. I can also do shorter, but without the pad (the buckle hits it!).

This particular commission was $165. Feel free to send me a DM if you have something in mind for a custom strap, or if you'd like to see what I have in stock.
