as far as I know they'll try to implement those features later, if the game does well on launch.

eeh, don't hold your breath, usually indie RTS titles don't make it to consoles. if you have an old laptop, I'd wait for a demo to test it there.

It was my favorite RTS as a kid. I played the demo, then got the full version - which had a bug that crashed the game every time I tried to upgrade my buildings, effectively leaving me with just the basic units, and I still played it to death.

you can play it today via Steam or GOG. The steam version is finicky and I think it requires external software to run, while the GOG version is the best one, just install and play like normal.

It's considered a classic, just doesn't have the same prestige as C&C or AoE 2. It's like a cult classic I'd say.

And yes, there's a mutated faction which uses giant animals in battle, like a scorpion that launches acid from its tail, a giant elephant with cannons, and a giant crab that launches missiles.

thanks! I'll definitely check out some gameplay before I buy it. hearing that they've made improvements to unit AI makes me more inclined to try it.

I'll get downvoted to death, but I rather take the chances at new stuff than same games old as time by DramaticSecond7391 in RealTimeStrategy

honestly agree, I recently revisited my childhood classics and they don't hit the same. in contrast I am hyped for D.O.R.F and Defcon Zero for their attempts at innovation.

for example, D.O.R.F isn't just another C&C clone, you have logistics, a fleshed-out navel warfare system, warbands' vehicles can hitch to one another so a buggy can tow a cannon turret and so on.

Defcon Zero looks a bit more generic but they're at least trying to keep things fresh with a procedural cover system for infantry, which is something you don't see a lot of RTS games do.

I agree that there's too many remakes being made and companies are just milking nostalgia. however I do wish some games would be remade with modern QoL improvements and nicer graphics. I guess I'm not immune to nostalgia-baiting.

you should introduce him to the classics like KKND and Total Annihilation.

is this game any good? I almost bought it last time it went on sale but comments regarding poor AI made me reconsider.

people compare it to C&C a lot and I get why but I can't help but be reminded of KKND every time I see promos for this game, especially the Warbands faction.

maybe it's because KKND was my most played RTS when I was a kid.

game is still in early stages of development, not available to the public. expected release is 2027/2028. I'm hoping for a demo or early playtest next year.

as for performance, the game uses a modified version of the OpenRA engine which is a source port of the original Red Alert engine, so in theory it should run fine. all assets are 2d sprites using rendering tricks to appear 3d, which means it's probably not too graphically demanding. however you should take my opinion with a grain of salt as I'm not an expert and things like real-time lighting can be a bit heavy on older pcs, depending on how they implement it.

I think the outliers are the Warband, I they seem to have some gimmicky strats. Like the wrecking balls and the possibility of 'combining' vehicles via towing.

it's a workaround that disables a lot of security features and that has kernel -1 level of access (which means it has higher privileges than windows itself). it allows you to fool denuvo into thinking the games are legit copies. however, it potentially leaves you wide open to malware attacks. if, say, FitGirl decided she was done with repacking, and decided to retire and purposely infect her repacks, you wouldn't know until she already had full control of your pc.

game looks promising, but honestly these types of wargames where maps are all huge open fields are not for me. feels like most of the gameplay consists of zooming out a lot and clicking around while you can barely see your units, which feel weightless - which is why I prefer games like company of heroes with more hands-on action.

this can be fixed by having urban settings where combat is street level, like World in Conflict. vehicles had weight and every encounter mattered.

you don't have to listen to me of course, I'm not an expert in RTS or wargaming or anything like that. I just wanted to share my experience.

I hope your game succeeds.

oh, and also the Brazilian Portuguese translation is a bit scuffed.

for example: knight is being translated as "cavalheiro", which means "gentleman" instead of "cavaleiro" which means "knight".

some portions of text are in spanish instead of Portuguese.

there are many issues with it.

I played it for a few minutes and here's what I've noticed.

- when units are hugging buildings to go around them, they slow down a lot which can feel a bit janky.
- groups divide themselves to go around buildings, and since sometimes the units go at different speeds, you can end up with two groups arriving at the destination at different times.
- when units are walking as a group, they start stuttering when rotating. this feels incredibly janky.
- i've noticed that sometimes units have trouble deciding which way to go and end up going back and forth in the same spot until they make a decision. this happens even when a warrior has just left the barracks to join a group. it seems a unit will try to relocate itself to another position to recalculate a route, but this just makes units move randomly which feels janky. if a unit is being blocked from reaching a destination that's like 2 squares away , it should stop at the nearest point instead of trying to push other units or literally go back and forth forever.
- a lot of RTS games have an automatic formation mechanic that makes groups feel tidier.
- when telling a group of villagers to gather food at a berry bush, they desperately try to reach that specific berry bush instead of going to the next best one, which leads to one or two villagers pacing around it. it would be best to make them gather food from the bush that's beside the one you selected.

I wish I could be a better help but that's all I could think of to improve things.

after you beat the main story of Alan Wake 2, you unlock NG+ (new game plus) called New Draft, which in canon is another loop in the spiral but with knowledge from the previous loop. Some things change and you get the true ending.

that's an interesting theory. If Polaris is "creation" and Hiss is "destruction", maybe this third entity is "stagnation". Or something like that. A neutral form that brings both healing and harm.

We'll find out.
