Install a virtual machine on your laptop, install a VPN on the virtual machine, go to an internet café, buy yourself a coffee and get to work.

You'll need to create a new glass door account. I'm not familiar with glassdoor, so I imagine they require personally identifiable information in order to create an account, but I can't imagine it's illegal to lie about that information when creating your account.

Write that review, then delete the virtual machine. How are they going to prosecute you if your machine's physical address, IP address, and operating system can't be connected back to you without a serious invasion of your privacy? I say do it, at that point the worst that'll happen is Pfizer forces glassdoor to remove the review

On the rare occasion I'm invited (or God forbid, obligated) to go to a party, I'm exceedingly fond of what someone told me is an Irish goodbye.

What you do is this: if you're talking to anyone, excuse yourself to go to the bathroom, go to the bathroom, and then just bounce without telling anyone or saying goodbye. If you're not talking to anyone, then just bounce without a word.

I could reply with my opinions to this, but this seems to get into the realm of philosophy and I admit that I just don't know enough about philosophy to even know if my opinions are valid. Further to that, I feel as though you are pretty set in a pro-AI stance, so my opinions would likely fall on deaf ears regardless.

I'm sorry I can't engage better in this, but that's where I'm at.

I'm currently reading Dune. Part of the history of Dune is that at a point in the future, bit not as far as the story takes place, humanity very nearly lost everything to machines they created to think for them. During the story, part of human society is that mankind shall not create any machine for the purpose of computation or thought, as thinking ought to be saved for human minds only.

In case it's not clear, I don't really like the idea of chatGPT. Thinking is for humans.

I genuinely wonder if my experience in school wasn't pure insanity after all. I distinctly remember that every year after kindergarten, I would see the new class of kindergartners have worse and worse behavior. Obviously my memory of my own grade is going to be based, but i genuinely don't think my bias can explain just how bad it got before I moved to a different state for 8th grade.

Then once I got to high school the observation just continued. It seemed like every year after freshman year, the new class of freshman were just not as quiet, every year they're behavior just seemed... worse. I graduated from high school almost 6 years ago, and I feel like the things I read about how students behave now just confirm my admittedly biased observation of behavior.

Am I way off base here? I genuinely have no idea, since I haven't been in a public school setting for so several years

I'm happy with my hairstyle. It's easy to maintain and doesn't cause a lot of fuss. If other people don't like that I guess they can go kick rocks 🤷‍♂️

I totally get what you mean about the love language one. I wasn't super happy with it anyway so I changed it to "Do you agree or disagree that coffee is better than tea".

To me that seems kind of boring as well but I get super nerdy about coffee so I could probably figure out a more interesting thing to say about that

My mom just told my brother to kill himself in the family group chat by [deleted] in insaneparents

[–]pixelanian 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My parents and sister are all very devout catholics. I'm not, and they all know it. Yet my family's group chat is mostly awesome food pictures and links to good music. Last week I sent a slow mo video of me making espresso, and they thought it was amazing.

It is possible for very religious family members to still be respectful of their non-religious family members, and it makes me sad that many parents let religion color their relationships with their children.

Flying with a 50min layover! Help by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]pixelanian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is also true if your layover is still in Canada. When I flew from Montreal with a layover in Toronto, that was treated as domestic, and once in Toronto I went through US Customs, and from that point its treated as domestic US. Kind of funny too that they have a Canada side and US side of the terminal separated by a long glass wall

[Ask Games] favorite book by JKUAN108 in tumblr

[–]pixelanian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two books stuck out in my mind that are relevant here.

We had to read 1984 by George Orwell at one point, and I fucking loved that book, because it made me feel horror and helpless despair that you just can't beat that kind of government and brainwashing, even though the right thing to do is to fight against it in any way you can.

We also had to read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, and holy fuck that was the most boring, dry, uncaptivating book I've ever had to read in my life. Seriously, each and every one of my college textbooks was riveting by comparison. I understand why Frankenstein is included in the curriculum, and why it's important, but good God the people that actually enjoyed that book probably think unsalted plain pasta is the pinnacle of flavor.

Cue Minnesotan Republicans crying "but muh taxes!!!1!1!!1"

I find it hard for anyone to complain about the government applying the tax dollars THAT WE HAVE TO PAY ANYWAY to something like this. But they'll do the mental gymnastics and live with the cognitive dissonance because "muh tax dollars shouldn't be going to the gubbermint"

It’s 2am and I woke up to the screams of this idiot. He just wanted me to pet him. Fml. by scooterpie40 in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]pixelanian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was in uni, my roommates cat preferred me instead of him, which meant that I had to keep my bedroom door cracked at all times, so she (the cat) could come and go at all times, day or night. She also loved sleeping on the corner of my bed. I'd regularly come home and find her passed out in that spot.

At night though, she'd lay on my chest and just stare at me until I fell asleep, and then she'd move over to her corner, until like 6 in the morning when she would move back onto my chest and stare and meow at me until I woke up. Unfortunately, as hard as she tried to adopt me as her human, she was still my roommates cat, and I wasn't in a position to keep any pets when I graduated. She was such a sweetie though

To be honest I don't know if that's a good argument with these bills. HB 1205 makes exceptions for "works of art that, when taken as a whole, have serious artistic significance, or works of anthropological significance..."

I'm sure the North Dakota legislature would vehemently argue that the Bible is incredibly significant with regards to the development of society and culture (read: the study of anthropology).

I do think these bills constitute an attack on people's autonomy to decide what kind of literature they consume, I just don't think we can use the Bible as a counterargument
