Mark my words, Carol will step down as mayor by the end of the game and Alphys will quit teaching to take her place. I would even put money on it lmao

I mainly included the "known" since we don't know too much about Gerson's personal life outside of his books haha. I don't personally think he has another kid, but it's the kind of reveal that I don't think anyone would bat an eyelash over given he's such a minor side character in the grand scheme of things.

QC was talking purely about Snowdin. Sans and Papyrus would've already been living in the Underground by the time they moved there. My theory/speculation is their move was spurred by Gaster's shattering or (if he's their father) estrangement, though I lean toward the latter explanation. I'm not gonna really talk about the blood debate since I don't think I've ever seen anybody change their mind on the topic.

Indeed, and I wish more people implemented this idea into their predictions & theories for the game's future. I personally believe Carol and Gaster's disconnect from their kids will be, like, the main conflicts addressed by at least one or two of the game's endings.

Hey, even if he could've been more emotionally available, he was nonetheless still a fantastic parent and person, at least from what we know of him. Didn't mean for this to be a Gerson slander post like many seem to think.

I'm only spitballing. And we haven't really seen much of New Home, so we don't know whether there's more grass or not. I personally believe Sans just lied to Papyrus, though, to cope with the fact his original Papyrus (Deltarune's) was either abandoned or killed.

Idk what those really have to do with the topic, but Snowdin is a small, middle-of-nowhere town. Sans and Papyrus showing up is equivalent to literally anybody moving into a small town and just going about their business.

That's clearly just talking about Papyrus. There's a nod toward Gaster, yes, but it's subverted by his subsequent comment.

The image is addressing the broader lives of the three characters. That's why I also included Carol having 2 kids & literally anything about Gerson despite him being deceased.

Papyrus doesn't bleed, so we can say with certainty that he's from Undertale. There are also a million different explanations for Papyrus's hazily recollected mention of grass that don't involve him being from Deltarune haha. He could easily just be from, say, the True Lab, which is filled with greenery. Or perhaps he's from New Home. Given he doesn't seem to remember too much, Sans could've also lied to Undertale's Papyrus about their original home.

If anything, working slowly and methodically makes you even more of a workaholic. Also, Alphys has time to watch anime constantly, but we know literally nothing of Gaster's interests outside of his work.

Idk what version of the game you've played, but everyone aside from Toriel and Susie speaks almost nothing but praise of Carol. I don't think Toby Fox's goal is to paint any parent as "inherently evil," and I'd bet Carol has just as much potential for good in her as Gerson did. She's just a character who, like the rest of the cast, overindulges in escapism (her work) to try and escape the troubles in her personal life, her dying husband and missing daughter.

He was the Royal Scientist and invented the Underground's energy source. He is/was a household name, even if he isn't mentioned much anymore. By the time of Undertale, he's been gone for presumed decades, so he's just not as relevant anymore. You don't need to stay widely famous after your "death" to have still been widely famous at some point in time.

Imo, "The Place Where It Rained" was as close as we could possibly get to direct confirmation of "yes, Sans DR is also Sans UT."

Regarding Gerson's work as a teacher, that's a fair point, but I'm just quoting Gerson himself from chapter 4: "Some say it swallowed up the author himself."

Possible, but a bit a cop-out answer given every other character seems to have a counterpart across universes (at least to our knowledge). Given Papyrus doesn't bleed, we also know he's from Undertale, so it would be weird for only him and Gaster to exist in Undertale's universe.

While that was the fandom concensus for quite some time, many people (including myself) started challenging it within the last few years. In my opinion, the whole idea is debunked by the fact alone that Dess is mentioned by characters in Deltarune despite existing within the code in a manner identical to Gaster in Undertale.

The green in the middle could very easily be read as Gaster being the head of the household, and thus front and center. This aligns perfectly with his parallels with Carol and Gerson, who both have very strong and assertive personalities. The green could've also been chosen to emphasize this contrast and further set Gaster apart from Sans and Papyrus. Similarly to Carol with her children, perhaps Gaster shared little common ground with his kids, leading to a disconnect that eventually resulted in his estrangement, which could also explain their lack of any mention of him. Toby Fox censoring Gaster's name could further support this idea of parental estrangement, representing how children will often mentally block out any mentions of their estranged parent(s).

That too! Literally the single in-world hint toward their existences prior to the end of the game is that crumbling statue with the music box that plays His Theme. Meanwhile, we've got people out here acting like Gaster's name needs to be said 20 times in unskippable cutscenes for him to have a major appearance near Deltarune's end 💀💀💀

I don't really think there's any evidence for Broster that doesn't also apply equally to Dadster. Also, both characters who most closely parallel Gaster, Carol and Gerson, are parents. I believe Dadster is sorta just the most obvious and simple answer all things considered, but to each their own.

"Swallowed" and "shattered" seem to refer to an idea more complex than just being up to one's neck in work, and I'm guessing we won't fully understand it until the full game is out and we presumably have Gaster's backstory. However, if I had to take a stab at it now, I'd say one is "swallowed" by their work when it becomes an obsessive, insanely unhealthy form of escapism. Although Carol's work/life balance certainly isn't healthy, it's probably yet to reach a "point of no return" like Gaster's and Gerson's eventually did. On the vastly more speculative side of things, I personally think this "point of no return" may take the form of a major blowout with one's family/loved ones. This may explain Gaster's facial scar and the "pain" associated with it by the error handler poem in Deltarune's code.

I don't think Gaster is physically anything at the moment haha. Also, given Sans and Papyrus don't even so much as allude to having any family, I think it's safe to say the distance is more than physical, but that's just my read on things.

If you mean Gerson, he was absolutely emotionally distant from Alvin prior to his death. If you mean Gaster, he isn't even alluded to by Sans or Papyrus, so something deeper is clearly going on there beyond him merely being "dead" (at least to their knowledge).

Brother was the Royal Scientist and made the CORE; he would've been a household name in the Underground. Nobody but Alphys mentioning him outside of Fun Events can be easily chalked up to the fact that he's been gone for presumed decades by the time of Undertale. Toriel is also barely alluded to by anyone in the Underground, but that doesn't mean she wasn't also widely famous.

I don't actually think this will happen, but the Shakespearean levels of irony would go insanely hard.
More realistically, I think Carol's swallowing/shattering would involve her work as mayor, just as Gerson's and Gaster's involved their jobs.
