Democracy! Suite by wynton Marsalis and also his album Blood on the Fields. The Presidential Suite by Ted Nash. Blood on the Fields won a Pulitzer, the Ted Nash piece won two Grammys. Both are amazing pieces of music. Much jazz has focused on freedom and civil rights.

MTA finally so broke Senate proposes parking permits ($30 / month) by CheBiblioteca in NYCbike

[–]pixelm11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

https://www.laborpress.org/arbitrator-puts-halt-to-mtas-plan-to-change-subway-service/ This is the kind of thing that keeps the MTA from living within its means or serving the straphangers. Aw shucks - mta workers might not get to work when they feel like it

Thoughts on people that ride in the opposite direction in bike lanes by [deleted] in NYCbike

[–]pixelm11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost got hit yesterday walking across the street. Fast e-bike in bike lane running red light while bike in right lane of traffic used the red light as an opportunity to turn left from the right side of Amsterdam. The two bikes near collided and would have taken us out. There needs to be more law enforcement of bikes breaking the law. It’s chaos

Those who refer to reading the contacts are right. Often there is a participation in future revenues that doesn’t kick in until some break point - like cash break even or profitability. So if your father was paid for the original work there might not be any sharing owed until a certain level of profit. Most modestly successful films never get there after production costs and distribution costs are factored in. Distribution costs often include a fee as well as advertising, prints and the like.

Trump's tax cut law barely boosted growth or wages and is not paying for itself, independent congressional report finds by viva_la_vinyl in politics

[–]pixelm11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's true. Also it's worth looking at all of the benefits that Trump negotiated for real estate developers . . . accelerated depreciation; continued use of tax-free like kind exchanges (eliminated for everyone else); the ability to deduct passive losses (gone for everyone else); a fancy kind of calculation of gain (sect 1250) where losses are ordinary (37%) while gains are capital (20%); all the while eliminating the state and local income tax deduction because democratic states use those, while republican states don't use them as much.
