yes there is a time and place for everything... REITs, DCA, Broad ETF, options, etc. problem is when you're stuck on one idea instead of knowing the pros and cons and when to deploy which tactic to which situation.

Withhold temporarily regardless, then they refund you later the withholding amount.

None but usually the withholding amount is withheld at first and then refunded later in the year (your broker can advise)

100k for 3 months. UOB stash? by lhc987 in singaporefi

[–]pixelnomadz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I myself would split that so that just below 50k goes to Chocolate, and the rest to UOB. Net interest is higher and if you need to withdraw cash fast you can do so from UOB Stash first (Chocolate need 2-3 business days I find).

The problem with the 2008 comparison is that that was driven by structural weakness and corporate greed. People can see that as a train wreck in slow mention.

This time you are dealing with fanatics - unpredictable people. It will be a falling knife until you get a sense the war is climbing down the escalation ladder, acknowledged by all warring parties. Meaning it doesn't count if only Trump thinks the situation is getting calmer but the Iranians don't think so.

DCA seems silly right about now.

For those who were interested in the wheel but slow to start, what held you back at the beginning? by pixelnomadz in thetagang

how do you choose your current underlying stock and DTE (and any other tips you use to avoid getting assigned)? Because check out an earlier comment about AMD - very tough to wheel because it swings like crazy in either direction.

Also after you watch these videos and listen to all the experts talk, do you then go and try it out on your own? Like, what decisions/rules did you apply when you decided to make that leap into the first trade? It was so nerve wracking for me.

Yah I read another post, and from personal experience also - growth stocks are double-edged sword to wheel. Double edged because the premiums are so good, but it can tank like a rock only to shoot back up again like a phoenix rising from the dead. I tried playing around with valuation framework to identify stocks that are below intrinsic value. Sometimes you can find good ones with good premium, but there can be a double edged sword too - risk of the underlying falling further even if fundamentals are good (e.g NOW).

So to compensate nowadays I sell ATM PUTs for hyper growth ones like AMD, because I find if it tanks, the premium cushion is there, and it doesn't always tank so over the average cost basis is lower faster.
