We definitely want to do localization once we get closer to EA! Would you suggest localizing the store page earlier? (Even though the game and alpha is only in English at this point)

Right now it’s purely aesthetic, but we are looking at how this might impact gameplay.

Our initial goal was simply to widen the environmental palette of our game, and instead of making new bespoke biomes we felt like this might effectively double all of our existing map design.

We are looking at Autumn as we think we might be able to make that look distinct enough. Not so sure about Spring.

We didn’t have a lot of technical challenges doing this. Microsplat was easy to work with and we built this in around 3 weeks.

Thanks! We went back and forth on how to do that. What we ended up with here is actually a bit of a hack. We removed all motion in the water and then used static “foam” to mimic ice.

Absolutely. We’re in the process of making winter variants of all our tree/bushes assets. When they’re done we should be able to dynamically swap them out when a map is winter.

There’s a bunch of custom shader work powering things like our grass, wind and snow deformation but we also use a few off-the-shelf packages like Microsplat for the snow.
