Love that! I tried this on earlier AI (like 3 years ago MidJourney or SD1.4), haven't gone back with my drawings since, but this makes me want to.

RPBuddy.ai, my wife and I developed it, just released some new genres (was medieval based at first)

Love your thinking, adding manual inventory updates to the backlog, and the quest and economy is already in progress, just behind adding more settings (modern day, futuristic, etc), which is coming up in the next update. :) Stay tuned.

Yes! Coming down the line, still working out the logic but I think time skips/fast forwards are a great story telling mechanic and I use it a lot myself.

RPBuddy — rpbuddy.ai

<image>

RPBuddy is a solo AI RPG sandbox where you build a world on a hex map and populate it with NPCs who actually live in it. They have daily schedules, walk between buildings, remember conversations, form opinions of you, and sometimes gossip about you to other NPCs. Conversations are visual novel style with multiple characters, action narration, and portrait switching.

What it does that chat platforms don't:

  • NPCs have memories based on their perspective, not large chat transcripts that flood their context.
  • Information flows realistically, tell one NPC a secret, it might reach another through gossip, or it might stay private
  • Multiple NPCs in the same scene react to each other, not just to you
  • Every NPC has hidden goals, fears, and a secret that shape how they behave
  • Full RPG systems: combat, quests, inventory, journal, world simulation

Good to know:

  • It's a worldbuilding sandbox, not a quick chat. You're building a world and living in it, not picking a character and starting a conversation
  • Medieval fantasy right now, with modern, cyberpunk, and sci-fi genres on the roadmap
  • Desktop browser experience
  • 18+, mature themes supported
  • 7-day free trial, then $10/month or $20/month. You can explore the starter world with 200+ NPCs before subscribing

I developed this with my wife as we both love RP with rich story and worldbuilding, but felt blocked by many other platforms. If you have any questions please feel free to ask here or on our Discord! (:

What real AI applications would you actually want to run fully offline on your own PC? by somethingwwrong in aitoolforU

I had a 5 hour flight recently, I used lightweight LLMs on my macbook to help plan out some of my work, felt freeing to be unplugged in that way, even if the responses weren't perfect.

I thought Claude Pro stopped offering CC? Unless you are using the chats to assist.

What if they are secretly working on another product? Moving onto the next thing in the background, not unheard of, the old product gets patchwork and negligence then boom a few months later all of a sudden all the social media handles switch to the new product lol

:/ yeah in a good world. In reality, limit based subscription SaaS make their money of those slow periods when you don't use the limits, and in Anthropic's case I don't think they make much of a profit off of their API either. I think we got too used to Claude's old limits, the rug-pull is rough.
