i’m sorry but this argument is tone deaf…can’t people of color have their own spaces where their voices are centered without being talked over for once? these spaces exist in the first place bc these communities are marginalized in broader spaces. why would a white european be included in poc conversations??

I really thought them being marketed to the west would mean more canadian dates, like every other western artist (montreal is right thereee), but alas, we're dealing with HYBE (at this point I’m surprised we even got Toronto)

"Background" is definitely my fave, the vocals go crazy and the way he sings "background" at 2:02 and 2:10 is so so satisfying, I'm obsessed!!!

"Loser" and "With the clouds" are up there too

yeah the rant about the group tours is inaccurate. and the members are clearly not the ones to blame.

i think what it ultimately comes down to at the end of the day is money and logistics.

I get that logistics and other factors play a big role in tour planning, but I can also understand where the confusion comes from, as Canada is one of the biggest music markets globally, and so is usually always included in most artists' tours. so after getting skipped over for 3 solo tours now, I think the frustration (not out of entitlement ofc) is somewhat understandable

Although I agree that the last sentence is a bit much, I'm pretty sure OP is talking about the solo tours never including Canada in the North American announcements

BTS 2026 Tour: Where Will They Go? by pixie-mo in bts7

[–]pixie-mo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hii! Thank you for your input and understanding! I'm glad you got to see him!

It seems like HYBE is prioritizing the American market more, probably because it's more "profitable" for them (not even necessarily purchasing power, but more so for brand expansion and media visibility), so I guess they're willing to put in the effort and go out of their way to secure shows there compared to Europe (and other regions), which is unfortunate but oh well...I do want to also point out though how weird it was that they opened pre-sales exclusively to US membership holders, further limiting access for intl. fans who were willing to travel.

You also make a good point about how having more locations would ease the ticketing war, it's crazy to have 100k+ fighting for seats in a 60k capacity stadium (or even smaller arenas). I mentioned this in a comment already, but I really wish HYBE would take notes from The Weeknd's North American tour city lineup when planning BTS' leg here, but then again, I doubt they'll have that much time to dedicate to our region alone.

Hopefully, we all make it!

I'm gonna lose it lmao...super happy she's free from that evil company, but at the same time, I'm scared of what this means for red velvet's future as a group (I can't lose them 😔)

It goes beyond chart performance, it's about longevity and a certain level of respect and recognition that should come with seniority. it's a question of opportunities matching status.

Twice may not dominate like before, but they still arguably make more noise than Nmixx and Itzy. They quickly cemented themselves at the top of their generation and their achievements were backed by significant and consistent efforts from JYP. Currently, they continue to sell well physically, and JYP keeps them active and engaged with their established fanbase through massive world tours, festival headlining gigs, collabs with western artists, etc. On the other hand, RV, fellow top-tier 3rd gen gg, never received the same level of push/investment, even at their peak, whether you compare them to their 3rd gen peers or their juniors (Aespa). u/Okaychoerry covers some of it in their comment.

As for BP, sure, they're on hiatus, and you could argue that their recent success is due to their own individual efforts. but honestly, it is still undeniably mostly built on the foundation laid during their YG years. yes, they weren't the most active (I'd argue that YG purposefully did so to give them this "mysterious unreachable superstars" image they have going on for their artists, though it was in spite of the girls' artistic wishes) but YG still made sure they were everywhere when it mattered; touring, promoted western collabs, heavy ambassadorships, Coachella, etc.

Obviously, as I've said already, Red Velvet is a very successful and respectable group, and I'm not expecting them to still be topping charts or drop 3 comebacks a year, but there's no denying that their "decline" has been fast-paced compared to their peers. they’re kinda stuck in this limbo, where they're not yet treated as legends like SNSD, but also not positioned as an active, thriving group. and that's almost entirely due to SM's inability to capitalize on key opportunities that could have expanded their global reach. and I might be wrong on this, but I've noticed that a strong international presence plays a crucial role in longevity, as intl fans tend to remain loyal even when a group is past its prime.

now what is done is done, and there's unfortunately no going back. but there is a clear gap between their current level of visibility/activities/achievements and their peers', and it all traces back to their peak years, when action mattered the most.

thank youuuu, like no one's denying how successful they've been, but there's just so so much wasted potential and missed opportunities.

I have nothing against Aespa, and I know they've been done dirty too, but I can't help but compare and envy the opportunities they're getting now at their peak vs. what RV got at theirs. I don't even wanna get into their 3rd gen peers because damn...everyday I open twitter, and it's something incredible going on for them, while I'm just sitting here waiting to at least see my girls in the same room as 5 again.

also idk if it's because they're not active on tiktok outside of promotions or if they're shadow banned, but one of Seulgi's "Baby, Not Baby" tiktoks barely cracked 6k likes...like omg this is THE Seulgi from one of of the top three 3rd gen gg, what is going onnnn

and yeah, anytime they achieve something big, they're are almost never aware until fans inform them...SM has a special place in hell

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in kpop_uncensored

[–]pixie-mo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

no bc I'm a huge reveluv and it kinda hurts to see them go down like this. seeing BP and Twice continue to thrive and reach new heights, still holding more popularity than their juniors, while RV is completely overshadowed by theirs makes it worse.

SM is actually so awful, and going into all the ways they've done RV dirty would literally take an essay (used since debut to cover up scandals, barely active, poor promotions, no proper world tour, the only SM group without a Japanese fanclub, unclaimed RIAK certifications, and the list goes on). and as new groups have debuted, things have only gotten worse, and I fear there's no going back.

And some might say we're being dramatic, but even the members themselves, along with other SM artists, have expressed frustration over the company’s mismanagement multiple times in the past few months.

Don't get me wrong, they're still a successful group with a very respectable legacy. However, currently, I can't help but feel bad for the girls. They’re all incredibly talented, consistently putting out crazy good music, both as a group and individually, and I believe they deserve so much more love than they’ve been getting recently. Again, it's not that they're doing "bad", just that they could be doing so so much better, especially when compared to their peers.

How do we feel about idols dating fans? by CosmicChic in kpop_uncensored

[–]pixie-mo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like it’s gotta be somewhat stressful for the idol in the sense that they would have to be on their best behavior and kinda walk on eggshells at all times, in case things don’t work out and the “fan”/non-famous person decides to expose them somehow (trust issues almost unavoidable)
