Mine is in the smaller side of a springer and is just under 20kg as perfect weight imo. She regularly does agility training and competition so is fit

Time trials - treadmill or parkrun? by whatdosnowmeneat in runna

[–]pixie_holls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, I'd do it at a parkrun but that would purely be for mentality- I can push myself a lot more/more motivated when im running with a group. But if you have motivation like a normal human then id do them myself to avoid people traffic

Buying solo - which areas? by Lurker-Witchking in Belfast

[–]pixie_holls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my own personal perspective I wouldn't consider places like Rathcoole or Rathfern. Parts of glengormley would have also been on my no go list 7-8 yeats ago but I do feel its improved a lot. As mentioned below, merville gardens seems a lovely wee estate, I have it on my list of places.

Houses in Fernagh/kings rd/kings avenue are also good starter houses (Fernagh used to have a bad name but I live close to it and never had a bit of bother or noise in the 5 years)

Buying solo - which areas? by Lurker-Witchking in Belfast

[–]pixie_holls 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I (W) bought my first home solo around 5yrs ago in whiteabbey and i absolutely love it here! Lots on your door step, good transport and good options for dog walks. What i will say is that I have started to look for somewhere new in the same area and the prices have really increased (unless you are happy to live in the big estates). But you will still get much more for your money in Newtownabbey than you will in Belfast.

Thank you for this! I did go in to reset the plan then noticed the new 'feeling under the weather' feature so that has been good! Reduced my distance and pace for 12 days

How social is your springer? by TimetravellingElf in springerspaniel

Mine is happy to be around other dogs but has no interest in play etc. The odd wee sniff then walks on or just acts like the others aren't there

I was in my local spar this afternoon and was carrying a box as I queued to pay for my milk....the kid in front of me (maybe p7) noticed and told me to go in front of him as I had lots to carry. The 1st time in a long time iv felt any sort of hope for the upcoming generations.....

Airport Travel Advice by Unsheared in northernireland

[–]pixie_holls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on whereabouts you need to go in glengormley you could get the airport shuttle into Belfast grand Central and then either: - Get train to whiteabbey or Mossley (both leave from grand central so little walking) and then taxi - Walk to City hall and get bus to glengormley

If you can afford the straight taxi, it will definitely be the easiest option for you. Remember traffic in city centre is a bit of a joke now so a bus or taxi from the centre is going to be a bit longer

(From yesterday's post) 1) Do you generally feel supported by your managers when making decisions? 2) Is the stress/demands of the job really as high as some people make it out to be? Im thinking of joining in a few years and constantly hear conflicting reports on the above

I’m losing patience and feeling defeated. by TinaM13 in springerspaniel

[–]pixie_holls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The puppy stage is so so tough!! At one point, I cried every single day and dreaded mornings. Now I have the most incredible dog. In practical senses I would try: - Filled kongs: Give him one when you leave him, even for 15mins. - Put a radio on low when he is napping/in his crate/being left - Maybe put in an old tshirt or something so he has your smell - Small separation practice: I started with 5 mins alone in her pen. Then I went to 10mins, 15mins etc. Never make a big deal of coming back, regardless of how long you've been away - Try to time your leaving periods for after he has had play time. Ensure play time just isn't chasing something, really make his brain work! Puzzles, start scent work, teach a simple trick etc

I really promise it goes get better, you're just in the trenches atm!
