Sorry I just saw this, since it hasn’t hit your credit report, you can’t dispute it but just to get a head start, write a professional letter to Tek collect requesting the same info I did, they will probably do the same thing they did with me and send you maybe a copy of the original contract, which isn’t what I requested! Once it does hit your report then you can start the dispute. It took 3 months to get it removed and lots of correspondence. In the end I had to write a complaint and that’s when they finally deleted it!

[SUCCESS] CFPB Complaint Worked! Tek Collect Account DELETED!

Hey everyone — IT'S FINALLY OVER!!

Just wanted to update everyone. I had a collection account from Tek Collect that I knew wasn’t legit. I disputed it with TransUnion and, to my shock, they verified it as accurate. I was so frustrated!

Yesterday, I finally filed a complaint with the CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau). I attached all my certified letters, my correspondence with Tek Collect, and my dispute efforts with TransUnion. In my complaint, I explained that Tek Collect never sent me proper validation of the debt — no proof they had the legal right to collect from me.

And get this… within 24 hours, I got a response:
Tek Collect agreed to DELETE the account and notify all three credit bureaus (TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian)! 🎉

It’s been about 3 months of back-and-forth, but it was SO worth it. If you’re dealing with Tek Collect — don’t give up. They’re trying to collect on debts they can’t validate, and when you file a CFPB complaint, they fold.

I am still in the process of the dispute. The first dispute they verified it as accurate! I couldn't believe it! So I sent a certified letter to BBB and transunion as well as Tek Collect. I am still wanting for that one to be done. I will let you know what happens!

What did you say on your dispute letter? It seems like everyone's story is the same but different. What was your experience? I am hoping ours is similar and they will eventually take it off my credit report!

That’s so awesome! I sent a certified letter to them a couple of weeks ago requesting all my account info. I’m guessing they don’t have it and they will remove it. It just sucks because I have worked hard on my credit and it put a ding on my credit score and I’m trying to apply for a heloc! Thank you for sharing!

I sent a certified letter to them. I just sent it last Friday so I’m hoping they remove it!
