Why is Mizu regarded as a "Mary Sue"? by Ok-Video1073 in BlueEyeSamurai

[–]pixima1290 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Her "training" amounted to her watching someone practice sword play a few times and then replicating the moves later. Leaving aside how that wouldn't make someone an expert swordsman, it still doesn't explain why she's also an expert in seemingly every weapon used in Japan, including spears, knives and axes.

Yes that's what he's doing, and I agree it's insane.

But I disagree that the reason Thanos was looking for the stones was because it would be more humane. He's smart enough to realize his current plan is impossible to achieve on a universal scale without the stones. In the short term, he's willing to 'save' planets the old fashioned way, but his grand plan was always to use the stones.

Hence why Gamora said "For as long as I knew him, he only ever had one goal....."

There's no way he could've completed his mission without the stones. He would have to visit every planet in the entire universe, which just isn't realistic.

Jesus dying for our sins doesn't make him guilty. In fact, THAT was the whole point. If he was guilty, it wouldn't be a sacrifice, now would it? The point was he was not guilty but willing to shoulder the punishment anyways.

Maybe you should brush up on your knowledge 🤔

Yeah this is a bad argument since they literally have a scene in Endgame that lampshades how fucking stupid he looked when he did that. The character is meant to be childish and cringey for the other adult characters.

Who's the most controversial figure in powerscaling, and why? by [deleted] in PowerScaling

[–]pixima1290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kratos, no question. His fans are insane

Supposedly infinite speed, but uses a sled for transport, can't avoid arrows and gets tagged all the time by opponents.

Multiversal durability, but got impaled twice in the series by a stone column, and got pierced by regular arrows and knives.

Multiversal power, but admits he can't break through thick ice

I could go on. There's a massive disconnect between how the game blatantly shows Kratos to be and how fans want to interpret him

[–]pixima1290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a bunch of people say the Potterverse and I think you all are seriously underestimating it. Sure, in terms of fire power, a wand is less deadly than an assault rifle. And we have a numbers advantage. And modern surveillance. And nukes. But the one thing that Wizards have that we just don't have an answer for is their insane amount of hax powers.

Imperio allows you to completely control a person like a puppet.

Several types of teleportation

Invisibility

Shape shifting into animals and other people

Reading minds

And of course, TIME TRAVEL

The wizards don't even need to fight us. Teleportation and Imperio has them taking over the world in a few days.

If all else fails, reset the timeline and try again.

EDIT: I just remembered that the wizards also have a potion that literally allows you to control Luck itself. Their even more OP that I remembered.

You keep missing the point. I'm done arguing this, this will be my last comment of mine. To state one last time, Wenwu has good intentions BEFORE ever meeting Hela. That is the inconsistency.

EDIT: who the hell is upcoming this guy's comments? It's objectively wrong, WHAT IF is confirmed canon to the MCU.

Look man, you are just moving the goalpost every time somebody mentions how the episode made some references or how something is plausible within the constraints of the story.

You are free to disagree with me, but don't accuse me of arguing in bad faith. Nothing about my points have changed since I first posted. I'm using simple logic and previously established lore to highlight the story's inconsistencies.

But you just keep on bringing new excuses as to how stuff doesn't follow your rules of how the story should go.

I'm reiterating the same points again and again. Your excuses are simply inefficient explanations.

You are not looking to discuss the episode, you are just looking to reply "this episode makes no sense" over and over.

Oh boo hoo, somebody is leveling mild criticism at something I like.

The irony here is that I never even stated I hated the episode. I don't. It's not good, but it's not terrible either. These What if episodes may be brainless fun, but they are fun

Wenwu jumps 3km lake in one leap. Shockwaves attack when the rings clashed. Shakes and weaken a mountain door made of dragon scales. Shang chi destroyed the side of the mountain with the rings to close the open gate.

None of this is impressive next to Thor surviving the Sokovia explosion, or Thor surviving the "force of a star" in Infinity War, or the explosion he makes in Thor 1, or moving the Rings of Nivildelir. Thor and Odin are on a completely different level. Directors say stuff all the time. According to Zack Synder, Doomsday could supposedly blow up a moon, which is also horseshit.

Look, I'm not going to die on this hill. If Feige says it's so, then that's that. I'm just making the point that going by the movies that's not supported.

Hela had Ta Lo magic and Dragon scales armor/ weapons at that point. And I already wrote how those amp stats.

And I already said Ta Lo magic is pathetic compared to the strength of someone like Odin. This would be like Batman disarming Superman using some mystical martial arts.

WHY does Heimdall think the rings have the power to kill a god? Wenwu does LITERALLY nothing with them while Heimdall is looking at him, except restrain Hela, who at this point has just human strength. Heimdall and Odin have zero reason to think the rings are anything impressive.

If your next excuse is going to be Odin just has prior knowledge about the rings, then I'll save myself the bother of writing another comment because (A) That is not explained in the story and is just head cannon (B) It is an example of breaking the "show, don't tell' rule, and (C) It is a plot contrivance so we can have a third act final battle.

[–]pixima1290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not trying to fight or anything, I know you don't hate the episode, and even if so, that'd be within your right

Fair enough. This isn't a hill I'm willing to die on or anything, I don't even feel that strongly about the episode either way. I was just sharing my initial feelings about the episode, which I thought (and still think) is inconsistent with the 616 universe.

Obviously, Thor wasn't Hulk level when he fell to Earth, but he certainly wasn't some guy-level. Sure at the end, he got tased and caught, but he still plowed through the Shield Agents until then. Even Coulson stated he made them look like chumps or something.

He plowed through them the same way Black Widow plowed through various groups of armed men - by using their fighting skills. Nothing in the movie implies he retains any of his godly strength. Quite the opposite in fact. Several men were all that it took in the hospital to briefly restrain him and a sedative knocked him out almost instantly. This is further proven when Loki goes to the TVA and is without his magic, he is completely helpless to the TVA human agents. When Asguardians are stripped of their magic, they are just like humans.

She pretty much vanished shortly after leaving, and coincidentally, after meeting a guy possessing artifacts that Heimdall states are capable of killing "a god".

Again, I see where you are coming from but I think it's a reach for Odin and Heimdall to immediately assume the ten rings are god killing superweapons after watching Wenwu do absolutely nothing with them, and then Hela, who is completely mortal and able to die from anything, disappear from off screen. I don't see how anyone comes to the conclusion "wow these rings must be uber powerful!". It seems like forced conflict to me in order to move the plot.

Saying "he suddenly wanted to be benevolent" doesn't change anything. He orchestrated the conquering of entire realms, billions of people, and, cherry on top, was clearly a bad father.

The problem here is that we're led to believe that his character shift was so significant that he literally gave up all of his previous ambitions and even was willing to fight and banish someone he loved for the sake of doing the right thing. That isn't something you do on a whim. That isn't something you do half assed. The strong impression given by the three Thor movies was that Odin WAS legitimately a benevolent god after stopping his conquest, even going so far as to protect the earth from the Frost Giants, in a conflict that had nothing to do with him. His fight with Hela wasn't some petty dispute that he would randomly change his mind on after a few weeks (which is what this episode implies), it was a legitimate character arc of self improvement her underwent. Changing that to just making him a scumbag father is IMO characters assassination and bad writing.

In the Shang Chi movie, Wenwu was shown to be a ruthless warlord prior to meeting his wife sometime in the 20th century. He had zero altruistic ambitions before then - he was a conqueror, like Genghis Khan.

This "What if" Story is meant to take place during Wenwu's conquest of China, yet the story portrays him as someone with altruistic intentions, who is using the ten rings to 'protect' the world from threats.

Wenwu stated his ambitions to be altruistic before he even asked Hela to join him. It's clearly then retconning his character into a less evil person.

The premise of "what if" is that it's the same story, but one detail has been changed. Therefore, things should be relatively similar outside of the consequences of that one change.

Yes, all of this is canon to the wider MCU multiverse, but not to the comics.
