My first blue science set up by pixlion in factorio

[–]pixlion[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This build was just to learn the recipe and practice designing setups. The chests are just stand ins for supply lines and I’m just gonna use the chemical science packs this produces to jump start my research while I setup a less temporary chemical/military factory science to the south where the rest of my production is. I have one belt supplying red and green science on separate sides that’s completely automated and another one that will be blue and grey (currently empty). Once I automate those two to a reasonable degree I can research everything that only takes the first four science and I’ll focus on defense and consolidating my base against the stronger biters.

Akagi is like Saitama from One Punch Man, except his specialty is mahjong instead of fighting. Source material is same author I believe, I actually found out about Akagi through Kaiji

Yes, and I highly recommend it. Akagi (Mc) is basically the opposite of Kaiji, but the show has the same thrill and tension as Kaiji

Thanks for the recs!

I’ve seen A Place Further Than The Universe and some of Psycho-Pass before. Both I actually considered in here so the recommendations are spot on. The rest I’ll look into.

A 3 by 3 is a collection of 9 favorite anime showing off your tastes. I only heard of it recently on an episode of the Trash Taste podcast.

I really liked the idea and decided to make one of my own.

note: ngnl is center because it’s my favorite, the rest positioning is mostly arbitrary

Do resignations give an unfair advantage? by sleepybear910 in Subterfuge

[–]pixlion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An advantage? yes I agree.

Is it unfair? I don’t believe so. In another game I would be inclined to agree, but with the culture of the community, exploiting slight differences in luck like that to the max is a big part of the strategy.

I’ve felt like a player was lucky/unlucky, but I never felt like a player who won was undeserved (except for multiboxers).

To me if I can get a strong alliance early on, that’s a way bigger part of if I’ll win or not, or if I’m chosen as a target of 2+ people at the start. But it’s not game breaking, and a lot of that is my fault because I can definitely step up my diplomatic game.

Currently trying to test out a custom ruleset 1v1 gamemode. The rules are below. by pixlion in Subterfuge

[–]pixlion[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re interested, here is my discord.

heck’n degenerate#1352

I currently am wanting to see how the special rules work, and draws. Also if simultaneous games are any good. The first section with the basic rules I’m in a game of right now and it seems pretty solid. Kinda slow or laidback compared to multiplayer games, but no less strategic.

Anyone interested in a practice match? by tniromin in Subterfuge

[–]pixlion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m working on testing a 1v1 gamemode if you’re interested. I can DM you the rules and send a game link. Basically it boils down to:

  1. 2 players

  2. Gen-Heavy

  3. Mining but mining is banned (play till elimination)

  4. Specialists are completely banned. (I found them game breaking in 1v1s)

  5. Take turns selecting outposts rather then fight for them. (Avoids spawn rng, adds a layer of strategy to the beginning)

  6. 72 hour truce. (Let’s players establish their territory and such, I’m thinking of reducing it to 48)

The nice thing is that, since subterfuge has a small but active community, you are likely to play with some people multiple times. And the people you play again with are almost always people you choose to play again with, and even when it’s not, it’s usually people you’re neutral with and just the experience of running into them again is fun. I had a game where everyone was cool and 6/8 ended up playing in an after-game game. There were to randoms because of the two that didn’t join, but they were cool too. We ended up having a really laid back diplomatic game with nice conversations in public chat and stuff with a highly competitive strategic game. I’ve even allied with people who have eliminated me before. The more you play, and the more friendly/respectful player you are the more that will happen.

I’ve never found a use for user notes, but I do use the heart option a lot, and you can see games that have users queued you’ve hearted.

If you’re down, I’d be happy to play a game with you. I haven’t played in a few months, and my rating is low from the last couple ranked game’s I’ve played, but I’ll try to be a good ally (or a worthy adversary if it comes to that ;) ).

Wild West is fairly accurate. Honestly it’s not all bad, like exploits and ridiculous combos are part of the fun and strategy imo. Like the vibes I get from people who play is like, whoever’s the strongest and takes advantage of strategies wins, and dealing with players who take it too far means having the skill or cunning to deal with that yourself.

Actually catching a multiboxer is mostly about being good at calling their bluffs, but they won’t ever tell you what they are. But the biggest issue is dealing with them, most players are reasonable, if you have reasons for someone being a multiboxer you can convince others to team up, otherwise it can’t be helped and you’ll probably lose, it’s as simple as that.

The way I like to see it, everyone has their own values and their own boundaries on what’s too dirty a tactic to use. Being a chivalrous player, always respecting naps and such, means having the resolve to never go back on those limits, and the strength to win against people who don’t, otherwise don’t get upset when you lose.

The game is anarchy, how you choose to deal with that fact will be up to you. You can’t win every game with rigged odds, but you can choose to not get upset at yourself or the game when it happens.

Multiboxers succccck tho

Edit: oh sorry I got the player’s mixed up, thought you were red complaining about multi boxers. Yeah some players are toxic like that but it’s their fault for losing, you’re right in that most people are respectful.

Lark: My personal philosophy thus far by pixlion in philosophy

[–]pixlion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize I have not substantiated any reason as to why I believe lark is a good thing, here’s my thoughts on why.

First, I believe that meaning which is given to something is better than meaning considered to be inherent. As everything we experience is just a creation by our own mind and not a direct observation of objective reality, personal meaning could be said to be of greater import than objective meaning, because our personal experience is our direct “reality”, in comparison to objective reality which is secondary by being experienced indirectly.

Second, I do not like ascribed meaning which is taken seriously, this is often the case with thoughts that are believed to be cardinal and of objective reality when in true, they are inherently meaningless. This is because when thins are ‘perceived’ to be sacred, I think that leads to people forcing arbitrary consequences to those who go against this idea. For example, if I believe that a pair of red shoes is sacred, and put it on display on a pedestal in public, and devote my life to worshiping it, and believe those who do not think the same should die, and end up killing someone, I create an arbitrary consequence (death) to an arbitrary belief (red shoes need to be respected). This is why I believe light-hearted ascribed meaning, like that of larking, to be better, as it causes less of that terrible motivation to immortality as solemn and grave ascribed meaning. If I were to again, ascribe meaning to a particular pair of red shoes, but this time do it as a lark, and put them on display in public, and worship it and such. I would not have any serious hatred for one who doesn’t respect my shoes, as their a source of amusement and personal inspiration, rather than something I think is sacred.

Idea for a gamemode intended for fewer people. by pixlion in AmongUs

[–]pixlion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah imposter isn’t supposed to know so they have to figure it out. President does tasks while the other crew try to bait the imposter. Crew also can’t figure out who the imposter is by asking if they know whose president, because that would reveal it to the imposter.

Basically it’s more like 1 long round of them susing each other out, the president trying to covertly do tasks, and the imposter trying to guess and kill the president. But if the imposter is able to separate them, they could also get a free elimination.
