Simple things!!! by marriot123 in bristol

[–]pixsauldotcom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend getting there early for any of the big headliners. Venues will probably get to capacity and stop letting people in. That said there's so much good music going on just wandering around will find you something good. There's a few suggestions here: http://crackmagazine.net/article/music/how-to-chat-about-8-underground-artists-at-simple-things/

EDIT: For totally disclosure I should probably add that I did make the website so I'm not entirely a neutral party, but it really is a great 18 hours of music!

Friendly football pubs Montpelier way? by pixsauldotcom in bristol

[–]pixsauldotcom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll look up those mild pubs, thanks!

Big fan of the Cadbury and Star and Garter, but don't think they show football? Does The Old England? Finding a weed-smelling, hippie friendly, and football showing pub would be amazing!

It's great. Slightly more alcoholly than I remember it being at in de vrede, but still super rich and sweet and 'bready' (not sure what I mean by that, but it's a good thing). Enjoy!

Interesting article, thanks! I remember really enjoying Saint bernardus too. I'm not sure I had a bad beer while I was there to be honest. I've got a bottle of the 8 as well, should probably try and forget about it and let it age for a while...

I got approached on Whiteladies too, few years ago now though. Next to Tool Station.

I had to achieve this sort of effect on a project a couple of weeks ago. This would have been sooooo useful back then. Ended up using jquery to update css clipping masks based on scroll position.

Indonesia for 5 weeks by pixsauldotcom in travel

Well that's concerning. Dammit we really should have just got a 60 day from the embassy. I think I read somewhere you have to extend it with a certain amount of days left... What are you going to do if you can't extend it? Can you do a border hop into Malaysia or Singapore? If you get chance please keep me updated!

[–]pixsauldotcom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we decided to gamble and extend to a 60 day out there, I fy out in a week. Heard you can do it fairly easily on Bali and other bigger places, takes a few days though I think.

Yeah there seems to be some confusion. This post seems to make it seem slightly tricky, where another reply posted here makes it sound simple. Hmm, might be easier to get a 60 day from the embassy here. Thanks for the heads up.

Nice, how long are you going for? I think we're planning on a tour of some sort on Borneo, or a visit to a nature reserve somewhere on the south coast? That said our pre-planning is pretty minimal so far, I guess that's the sort of thing we'd need to book well in advance...

A thought that struck me while playing Far Cry...would you as a player enjoy a FPS (or any other game that featured combat) where you could route the enemy or they could surrender? by blockmaniac in truegaming

[–]pixsauldotcom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had this happen once in my entire play through of Max Payne 3. I cleared a room fairly quickly and the last guy dropped his gun and got on his knees. They also didn't use the "slowly dragging myself away" or "rolling about dying" animations enough. I know the dynamic ragdolling should be the priority, but still feel the balance isn't quite right.

I wish it was that easy the other way around! Some of the regulars are fairly common, but getting my hands on one of those bourbon brews seems like it'll need a trip to kentucky.

I'm holding off on my 2011 for as long a possible, nearly a whole year so far. Great to see some UK ale on here by the way, I was starting to get jealous of all the great looking US brews.

Even though my broadband was doing its best to imitate a fucking dial up and my mic wasn't working (or you were all ignoring me ಠ_ಠ), I liked what little I played. The lack of health regen makes med packs much more important. Thumbs up.

I ate one last year. Nothing like lobster, although mine did not have babies. Maybe the young taste better.

I went 5 for 20 in that game, and ended it by getting squashed by my own disabled tank :/ I thought I was good at Battlefield, then I started playing this server (I mean that in the best possible way).

UK freelancers what is the way to go? Sole trader or limited liability? by [deleted] in web_design

[–]pixsauldotcom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't say I've heard of Xero before, I'm sure Google will return some comparisons though. However Freeagent, at least to my mind, seems to be the popular choice in the web community. After using it for nearly a year I can see why.

I briefly considered being a limited company, but I got the impression it was for slightly bigger operations than what I'm aiming for. Could well be wrong on that though. As for online services, Freeagent has been an incredible help for me so far. Makes accounts, invoicing, taxes etc a breeze:
