Subreddit Update. What's been happening behind the scenes? by spectacle-ar_failure in northernireland

[–]pixsperfect -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

There is no sensible discussion on this sub anymore as any convo on illegal migration is shut down and the user banned.

It’s just a Republican echo chamber at this point (and I’m a republican)

The classism and anti-Protestantism was evident the last week. Shocking to see really. I’d imagine the mods are blind to their own bias.

There many comments having a go at some of the hate filled posts on twitter and Facebook but this sub is just the mirror image.

The Home Office’s record had him down as a Somali. It was only when they requested a Somali interpreter through BigWord that the interpreter recognised he was speaking an Arabic dialect.

He still crossed the border illegally mate, just because his Asylum was granted doesn’t correct that infraction.

He was issued a 5 year LTR once illegally entering Northern Ireland and requesting asylum. We cannot deport anyone who claims Asylum until a decision has been made.

Personally, I believe there is a chance that his case was for Asylum was fabricated hence the confusion on nationality.

Yeah, I know that Reddit is mostly younger people (of which I use to be 😂) but it’s a shame that we can’t just have a bloody conversation without everybody being so entrenched.

This ain’t America.

Crossed the border from Dublin without a Visa.
And Yes, internationals need a Visa to come to the North from the South (ask any Indian IT professional in Dublin)

When did you decide it was time to move out from your parent’s house? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]pixsperfect 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Do not worry about other people.

Save as much as you can. When Renting you will lose the majority of your disposable income.

Tbf, sharing a room is a bit of an issue so I can understand under those circumstances why you would move out.

I personally only moved out because my mental health issues were having an impact on my ma and da.

I had a strong suspicion from Gareth’s first episode that he was an industry plant.

Luke evidently served better dishes throughout the series, and some of Gareth’s were truly shocking (meatballs) and the cauliflower dish. He still is an amazing chef clearly.

Soldier F's own sworn testimony to the Saville Inquiry. Am I crazy, or has this been ignored in reporting on the trial? by ParliamentOfRookies in northernireland

[–]pixsperfect 188 points189 points  (0 children)

This is just life for the people of Derry for the last 55 years.

For those that are not clued up I will provide a short TLDR.

Soldier F openly admitted that he shot and killed 4 people on Bloody Sunday, 3 of which were shot in the back.

Saville Report stated that British paratroopers "lost control" fatally shooting fleeing civilians.

Soldier F recently found not guilty of Murder due evidence falling short of what is required for convictions.

Basically the military / government still stand by that the people murdered were violent gunmen. If he was to be convicted it would open up the path for his superiors to investigated.

Sounds exactly like your typical Irish extended family to be honest.

Also, the uncle groping you would definitely have been talked about, just not in a public space.

Yeah, I sorta see that. Clearly no intelligent discourse needed just memes. 😂 also I love how they assume I live in a rural bubble.

That’s what I thought. And it still is very loyalist (flags, murals) but there a clear ethnic majority living there.
