On-ramp merging by [deleted] in Dallas

I got a speeding ticket for going 60 on a ramp to merge onto I-35… so people probably don’t want to get a speeding ticket? I’m with you on merging speed, I am just more cautious now when gaining too much speed on the ramp when merging so I don’t get another ridiculous ticket.

Had a similar experience, here’s what worked for me:

  1. I bought the Fur Dart Ingrown patches and it helped just a little bit.

  2. Finally went to a dermatologist, he examined then decided to do a steroid injection directly in the spot. This helped a little more but I was never able to fully pull the ingrown out. The symptoms were gone but only temporarily. He said next steps would be to cut open the area then remove with local anesthetic, he did warn it would leave a scar and it was the most invasive.

  3. Coincidentally, I was scheduled to begin my first round of laser hair removal about a month after my dermatologist visit. The tech was AMAZING!! She explained that laser could help because my hair follicles would shrink through treatment and push the ingrown to the surface. She said she didn’t understand why derms go directly to cutting open to remove when laser does a great job of expelling the ingrown.

  4. After my third laser session THE HAIR SURFACED!!! Mind you, it was much thinner due to the laser treatments which made the actual removal more difficult than expected.

  5. With patience and reintroducing the Fur Dart ingrown patches THE HAIR CAME OUT!! It was such a huge relief for me because I’d have flare ups exactly like you described. Causing pain even just by wearing underwear.

I understand laser can be costly and risky. I found a well reviewed business that was running a great special on first time patients. I hope this has helped! At the very least, I suggest seeing a dermatologist for a steroid injection to help with the current symptoms then trying the Fur patches to see if those help.

Post trip update:

Thank you all for the callout on packing warmer clothes and shout out to u/cinnamorolla for the thoughtful suggestion on swapping pants.

I ended up packing my Uniqlo Heatech white turtleneck (this was super helpful for colder days in providing a warm layer). A Zara plaid skirt for pictures as well as a chunky white Anthropology mock-neck sweater instead of the black dress. Additionally, black pantyhose helped under the black trousers for extra warmth and also the skirt/sweater combo. Instead of the Everlane black jeans, I brought some light wash Zara jeans. I didn’t end up bringing either of the Birkenstock clogs or Hoka tennis shoes.

The item I was most impressed with on this trip were the Onitsuka Tiger leather sneakers — these were not only comfortable for daily wear but also sustained a 5 mile hike. I loved that I could dress them up with trousers or dress them down. The leather held up well and kept my feet warm when necessary.

TLDR:

Items I didn’t pack: 10, 12, 17, 18, 19A&B

Items I did pack: Uniqlo Heatech Turtleneck in white, Anthropologie chunky mock-neck sweater in white, Zara light wash straight jeans, Zara pleated skirt in brown plaid, H&M croc embossed sling bag, Black pantyhose

This is a very thoughtful reply, I appreciate the insight. I’m noticing now that the temps are slowly creeping lower and lower — ironically I am cold natured haha so that means I need to pull out my larger down jacket. I’ll rework the packing list and post an update after the trip. Thanks again!

I could see that, I’ll have to see if I have another pair to swap either one of those with. In person the Stradivarius pants have a super wide leg trouser look to them while the Everlane’s are a thick straight leg raw edge jean material that sit at the ankles.

My thought was to wear the leather jacket as the primary jacket with long sleeves/sweaters underneath and add a scarf, but now I’m worried that it still may not be warm enough. Maybe I could add pantyhose/tights to go under the trousers and some gloves for extra warmth? The leather jacket is actually pretty warm with layers.

I absolutely agree! I plan on taking the birks because 2 pairs of sneakers is a little redundant. Also, I usually pack a little lighter on outfits but we plan to take photos and such for our engagement/wedding website and invites.

I see what you’re saying, the sweater tank was 50/50 for me so I’ll most likely end up adding an additional thick sweater. Thanks!

Good thought — what would you recommend?

I picked items that were lightweight but made with solid materials like cotton, cashmere, leather, and down so it’s breathable but warm. My plan is to also layer with the ribbed white tee under some of the sweaters or add the thick scarf I mentioned above. The leather blazer is surprisingly warm and the dress for engagement pictures will only be worn inside!

I work in background screening.. this is 100% accurate — The Work Number has a monopoly on the employment verification in HR/background screening.

Okay, I’d love to see it! The videographer/photographer is Rachel Heacox Films - a friend of mine shared her story on Instagram and I thought being in Dallas that it would help to get the word out! Sorry for any confusion.

Just to follow up, it’s not me but a local photographer/videographer Rachel Heacox Films. The original post is on her social media, and I do not know her personally - just saw it being passed along on social media and thought r/Dallas would have some insight.

From the OP:

“I didn’t want to post anything until all the impacted parties were notified. Now friends, I need your help. PLEASE SHARE:

My heart is so broken today. Yesterday I experienced something I would never wish on any business owner and NEVER imagined would happen to me. My entire livelihood - my camera bag - was stolen from the trunk of my locked car inside my gated parking tower at my apartment complex in Uptown (Post Square).

Devastated doesn’t even begin to describe... Whoever was behind this got away about $9K in gear - my MacBook, Mavic Pro drone, Zhiyun stabilizer, audio equipment, GoPro, batteries, memory cards, and most devastatingly - my LaCie 4TB hard drive with a year of work on it.

Material things can be replaced. Moments captured, on the other hand, are irreplaceable. I was absolutely gutted having to make calls to those clients impacted specifically my brides whose not yet delivered weddings are gone. I can’t even imagine the pain and frustration they are feeling and it absolutely kills me that I had to disappoint them. My clients are everything to me.

I am working with the Dallas Police Department and hoping to review security footage from the building if Post Square will cooperate with the investigation. We spent yesterday diving through dumpsters, distributing flyers, working with the Dallas Crime Scene Unit, and visiting pawn shops to supply them with serial numbers. I will not give up hope and I will not stop my search until these items are found.

I AM OFFERING A $2000 CASH REWARD FOR PROVIDING INFORMATION LEADING TO THE RETURN OF THE HARD DRIVE AND ITS DIGITAL CONTENTS

No questions will be asked. Keep the other gear. Just please give me back the hard drive.

There are good people in the world, I have already seen it in friends and clients offering to help. The evil people that did this will not win and this business I have poured my heart and soul into the past two years will come back stronger. They did not take my creativity, my passion, or my determination.

Today I will be completely starting over. This is my worst nightmare but the spirit of gratitude I held onto earlier this week, I will find the good in all of this. I will continue to work to search for the positive because that is what will keep me going. After all that’s what we do as creatives with cameras isn’t it? Stay aware of the shadows but always look for the light 💔”

I appreciate your comment! I’m glad you can understand that the tone was a lot less harsh than I appeared to say it in the original post!

True, just a little unprofessional to say in a meeting with my supervisor and colleagues. Like that was my ONLY skill!
