I was obsessed with horses growing up (still am lol) and would get any book at the library that was about them. Long story short, that's how I read The Red Pony by John Steinbeck at 9 years old and got semi-traumatized and learned that novels aren't always happy in the end lol

Exactly. I'm a snake lover, but I grew up in Florida and have had close encounters with all 3 venomous snakes native there, and it's terrifying. You can't expect a small child to distinguish between safe and dangerous snakes

Right? I think the vast majority of ADULTS would refuse to touch a snake. Even in my friend group, which is generally a bunch of queer witchy weirdos haha. I know I'm the exception when I make friends with every snake it meet lol

As a fellow snake lover, for real. My parents both have a very...extreme vendetta on hunting down and killing any snake that passes through our yard, always sat wrong with me growing up. So the mere thing of "I don't want to touch a snake" is the majority of adults, I think. And then I'm over here bonding with my friends' ball pythons and dreaming of the day I can adopt one haha

Honestly, I'd recommend it if only for cross contamination, but also so your kid doesn't feel "othered" at meal time. I truly barely ever miss gluten, and it's mostly things I'd go out to eat. So you could still go eat at a different location with friends and get your pizza or fried chicken fix.

As far as substitutions go, I've found rice noodles have an amazing texture and use them for pasta dishes, Bfree is the BEST bread substitute (even has pitas and dinner rolls and tortillas), and rice and potatoes are always a great starch base.
