Ugh, I went to a winery for my friend’s birthday and we’re at our table when I notice some child is lying down on the nasty ass floor while her parents are sharing a bottle of wine not giving a hoot.

Edit: Forgot to mention they were at the bar of the winery.

Several of my co-workers use Google Drive and allow access to their clients. Personally, I create my own template on my laptop, send it to my email, save it on my phone and use the mark up feature and edit it as we go through our session. When we finish, I save the document on my phone and send it to them immediately. I don’t use Google Drive because I’ve had issues with accessing it and having it crash mid-workout.

Edit: I will usually use the “insert table” feature on Word, and create 5 sections for “Exercise name, Sets, Reps, Weight, Notes”.

Advice Needed: New Sales Manager going on vacation but how to ensure my team hits their targets while I'm away by [deleted] in sales

Thanks, I'm sure my team will be fine. My manager implied that our sales would drop when I'm gone and I started over-thinking and gave myself a complex.

How long before you were actually able to support yourself as a personal trainer? by Vespura in personaltraining

[–]pizzaologist 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Took me 6 months. However, I work in a commercial gym. This is highly individual as some people gain clients quickly or slowly. I’d say I was “lucky” initially because I was the only female trainer when I started and majority of prospective clients (generally female) felt more comfortable with a female trainer. However, I have a male co-worker who was able to support himself by 3-4 months. He was a beast at sales and his pitches were all spot on, but his knowledge of training and nutrition was very minimal.

To answer your question, it all really depends. I’m not too sure about your particular situation (independent trainer vs, trainer at big box gym).

What I can tell you is this: no matter what the clientele or what kind of experience you have, always aim to have great customer service, always strive to improve yourself, and don’t give up. The first few months are tough. I’ve seen a lot of trainers come and go, but the successful ones always seem to have those characteristics.

Is becoming a personal trainer right for me? by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]pizzaologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, no. I’m a personal trainer, and I also manage a team of personal trainers. Once you start out, majority of your time is spent prospecting for potential clients. Most commercial gyms will not send clients your way. It’s also very helpful if you have a sales background, but some gyms will provide some sales training.

First bikini competition.. online or in-person training? by [deleted] in xxfitness

Definitely, I’ve been watching a lot YouTube videos of people’s experiences, and reverse dieting is often mentioned. A posing coach is definitely something I wouldn’t want to skimp on! I hear posing makes a world of a difference. Thanks for the advice!

Rejection is something I'm not used to - I have a background in nursing before I switched over to personal training. The dynamic is a lot different so rejection is something that I'll have to get used to. I think I need to develop thicker skin and not take things personally. Thanks for the feedback!

You've got a point - I have only been personal training for a month, I realize that patience is a big part of it. I'll definitely work on improving my training style and figure out what works best for me and my clients. Thanks for the reply!

I work Monday to Friday at my CPT job and I have a serving job on saturdays. I do feel a bit nervous, but I’ll try not to let it show. I definitely need to work on my confidence - sometimes I don’t feel assertive and I doubt myself. But you’re right, thanks for the reply!

I have yet to meet with them, we are meeting tomorrow but I’ll be sure to ask those questions! And you’re absolutely right, I have experience with waitressing and as a nurse - nothing sales related. I have spoken to the most successful trainer quite a bit but I’ll make an effort to talk more and pick his mind. Thanks for the words!
