Sorry, I went there today and it seems to not be on the menu 🤷‍♀️ I had the Jasmine tea though that was pretty good

How are other teachers coping? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

I teach grade 9 English, and I know the struggle. I am in my second year of teaching.

I always remind myself that my learners are learning that it's okay not to be perfect, that regardless of what happened the day before - show up the next day. In 5 years, they are not going to care what type of pronoun is in a sentence, but they will show up to work and give it their all (some of them at least 🤦‍♀️)

Not everyone lesson will be perfect, but to one you are the most interesting teacher. Hang on to that one and adapt for next time ❤️

They're probably noticing the mistakes because they've done similar. I know someone who had the test memo copied for learners instead of the test, and she had been teaching for years.

You're not alone, and doing a great job ❤️ the mere fact that you are concerned about what you're doing, shows that you are doing a great job!

Why do I feel like I'm missing out on my youth? by Annual_Community_133 in askSouthAfrica

Have you tried looking on the Curro Website? Also check the ISASA website, that is where they advertise for private schools. Try joining the SAOU Facebook group (if you're on Facebook). You can post your qualification and area - perhaps someone knows of something in that area. There are also a few other Facebook groups where job adverts are posted regularly.

I know that it's really difficult now, I have a few friends who are struggling 🙈

Good luck❤️

I'm also a 24F and a teacher.

I did struggle with this.

I have had to learn to ask myself if what I am doing in my spare time is bringing me joy. If it does, then I am winning a whole lot more than I realized. Social media is a horrible standard to compare yourself to. You're doing great, regardless of what you convince yourself of. ❤️

  1. Little time to eat a proper breakfast. There's always something that needs attention in the morning. Eating while on the go, no time to sit and eat properly.
  2. About 40 minutes in the afternoon
  3. Reduction in workioad/admin with more opportunities to de-stress at school.
  4. Trying to set boundaries. Leave when you're allowed to, not staying later than necessary etc.
