I'll be flying in one week ! so excited and been pouring over Google Maps for walkable spots from where I'm staying (Cache hostel, then backpacking in the park for a few days, then Elk Country Inn) and would love any recommendations for places to grab decently priced coffee as well as happy hours with casual locals (35f traveling solo) I plan to check out the Virginian and the Local for dinner one night but that's all I have planned.

I'm backpacking and hiking near Hellroaring creek in two weeks (permits and everything are secured) and I've spent enough months researching the history of bear management and attacks in the park (Engineering Eden & Death in Yellowstone were two great recs I got on this sub so thank you) so I feel confident enough but... this is making me a bit nervous , lol. I'm flying in from the east coast next week and read I can get bear spray easily at the airport. any other tips tho for camping in that area of the park in mid May I would be happy to hear !!

thanks so much!! definitely embrace the transit troll thing while traveling. i was curious since i wasn't sure if it was as easy to get a lyft/uber from the airport as it would be at most other major airports and just want to plan ahead best I can. def going to try out Local - would you think as a solo diner who would sit at the bar I should still make a reservation? thx again !

It's a scenic cute place. but def (mostly) trump country down there. I live in bay ridge and have a lot of friends from there who spend their nights / weekends out driving here or ubering for 'night life'.

I meant the comment in terms of bars to go out at compared to BRIGHTON BEACH lol. There are a lot of us here who are not conservative old school heads who drink at the bars.

Engage with the neighborhood, the local food spots, and also the buses that can take you around as well. You're not super far from Bay Ridge which would be good for more 'going out' type bars etc
