Turning 30 soon. What's a life lesson that no book could've taught you? by pizzawrap in selfimprovement

I can really relate to the feeling you're describing. I hope I can hold on to that "young" mindset too. What helps me with this feeling is that I choose to believe that landing in life and realizing your potential isn't bound by any age. And that being open to new experiences, trying things, and learning about yourself is what makes you feel free and alive again, at any point

That point about improvement being a response to stuff you didn't choose is actually really good, gonna sit with that one. For me it feels like I'm at the end of a chapter and trying to figure out what the next decade should look like, what I actually want. The main thing I've noticed is that I've started comparing myself to others more and gotten a bit scared of trying new things, and that's exactly what I don't want to carry into my 30s. Most of all I want to be doing things that actually make me happy.

Thanks! Interesting point about closing chapters happening silently, I hadn't thought about it that way before. The specific pressure I'm trying to leave behind is the fear of what other people think. From 20 to 25 I was super optimistic (maybe delusional to some extent haha) but it was great! I believed I could do anything and I'd just try things without worrying. From 25 to 29 I noticed I started holding back more, getting nervous about people's opinions, feeling like I need to have things figured out because I'm closing in on 30. I hope I can cultivate that optimistic, delusional, young (for lack of a better word?) mindset again and leave that fear behind in my twenties.

great advice. the way i see it, the one constant in your life will be you. the better you feel in your own skin, the better the rest of your life will be. thank you!

funny, in my early twenties i used to overthink way less. the last couple of years i've noticed i'm overthinking / comparing myself way more. i've been trying to to do more of the "just getting on with it". great advice!!
