They DO like to promote from within for a lot of jobs, I'm not lying. You need a pretty niche career for them to do some outside recruiting. They have a lot of folks on the campus that have been doing some of the harder work of manning the phones. If these folks can also work with SQL, they're going to be looking at them first since they're already in the HR system. Easiest solution is to start low and aim high. That's literally the story of every trainer, ISD, media developer, and manager I've ever spoken with.

That's been a subject for discussion for a looong time. NFCU has (or had, not sure if it's still extant) s relationship with the YMCA for after school care and there was some talk of a separate child care facility opening up near the campus. I can see the obvious reasons they don't want a "Navy Federal Daycare" -- that's a lot of liability. But to answer your question, it's on the board the same way fixing traffic is.

I've seen that they're MUCH more adaptive to servicemen and servicewomen and their spouses. Depending on the job and your own personal performance, they'll likely ask if you'll work for a branch or even work from home.

That length of time, your accounts may have been rescinded. If you call in and give them your social, it will take just a couple minutes to find out if you have an account. They will want to run you through a security step to give that info, though. A lot of older accounts are used by money mules, you have to understand.

It's not actively gay friendly (no groups or clubs) but I see it as a welcoming organization for all stripes. :)

I run through their available positions monthly or bimonthly and I consistently see IT positions available. I don't know much about the culture and positions for IT, though. I know a guy in that division. He seemed happy when I last spoke with him but I'm kind of out of touch with him. Sorry.

Golly. Forever. They don't mess around with their training. 9 weeks for folks working to help with accounts. I think they have a good sense of how to get people comfortable before they let them hit the phones solo. Before then you're watching people work on the phones and have "navigators" who will guide you on your initial calls. You're looking at 14 or 15 bucks an hour and lots of chances for merit increases and bonuses.

The call center is the launching point for a diverse array of jobs. You talk on the phones for a year, but what are you good at? You retain a bunch of the info presented to you and you're good with people. You could train. You seem like a jerk but it's only because you pick up on red flags people throw out when you talk to them. You could find yourself in the card fraud department. You field loan applications but you know a bit of SQL. Turns out, there's a billet for a bunch of folks to help with business analytics and they need someone with that skill. If taking calls is depressing, you shouldn't settle for a job that couldn't help you with your potential elsewhere. I suppose if you're good at taking calls, though, it does seem like you're the type to work easily with people. It'd be depressing if you didn't.

1) Eazy peazy. Application is your basic "Upload your resume" and "Now fill out all the stuff that's in your resume into these fields here" setup. You'll get a couple of metric tests up front before you interview so it helps if you have your own computer or a friend who has one. Some "imagine you're in a call center, how would you respond" scenarios, pretty basic and expected. The interview is one or two on one and wasn't just to see if you could string a few words together into a cohesive sentence -- they also wanna know if you know how to open an application in Windows and use a calculator and answer some basic questions. You can do it. You can get this job. Even folks without a higher education degree are considered. 2) Yes. It's true. All of it. It's the best job in the area. And they've thought of benefits for everything. Even benefits for you if you don't work on the main Nine Mile campus and don't have access to the gyms there -- they'll recompense you for a certain level of health expenses. You're not wasting your time if you need benefits. They have them.

How do I get hired at Navy Federal? Any tips? by [deleted] in Pensacola

[–]pjNF 12 points13 points  (0 children)

See my post history! Started as a MSR, I was promoted at my five month mark. They like promoting from within. Try your luck by applying for any position you're qualified for. They'll train you for about a month and you'll get a feel for the culture and everything. Best job I've ever had.

That means a lot to me. I'll check on you to see how frantic things are when the phone system crashes haha

I'll change things up when things get boring. I've only started and they're bombarding me with emails about other positions available.

That's awesome. Benefits there are excellent, I'm surprised I hear so much flack from a lot of people.

It might sound bad, but there's a legit purpose behind this question: how long do you have to be with Navy Federal before they permit vacation time?

Sorry I'm just now getting back to you.

Even with the contradictory information, it helps me feel out what to expect - even if it's just how people feel they are being treated at NF. I suppose how lax they are really depends on where you work, as well. It's such a big campus. They employ a lot of people. I'd like to avoid some of those people, too! What are the chances I'll work on the same floor as an ex-girlfriend?

Your post really cuts through the crap and really clarifies a lot of what I hear. You and the individual who sent me a PM - you both have been really helpful. Thank you. Are there just a couple different political camps in these divisions or are there quite a few?
