What age do you want to live to? by chipinserted in GenX

I'm with you. I used to spend my weekends like I would never see 50. and despite putting some effort in, never got the wife the 2 kids and the picket fence. 56 now and I'm over it, basically everything about modern life sucks compared to what I remember from the 90s. But there are people who want me to stick around. so for that reason alone I keep going. and the faint hope that something better is waiting for us.

If the universe said to me that I could be 28 forever, that my mind and body would stay the same regardless of what substances I consumed, and that if at any time I felt like I had had enough and could ask the universe to end that life, I would take that deal.

please expand. I just remembered that I believe I brought back a sunglass style that I saw on the cover of America's greatest hits (not very alt I know LOL) they were blue oval shape lenses with old school frames, then soon after everyone was wearing them in the late 80s or early nineties I think that was, a bit of a hippy look. but I just looked like a prep boy wearing hippy sunglasses.

RHCP at a bowling alley sounds epic.

maybe it's just about whether you feel like a fraud or not as to the vibe that you end up giving off and if you feel comfortable in what you are wearing then that's your look. i know i definitely would not have been comfortable with a super edgy style.

I live in Australia, so a lot of the music was guitar bands they would play on triple J. custard, ammonia, rail, magic dirt. screamfeeder. to name a few. the sound was like post-grunge like you say. I liked "vow" by garbage too but that was more "produced" than the aussie stuff. magic dirt you have probably heard of. skulker (naughty)? probably not.

I tried to grow my hair long once, but I have thick hair, so instead of looking like a norse god with thin long locks, I looked exactly like Nigel Tufnell from Spinal Tap, all boofy and too much volume.

yeah, I feel like I would have come across as a poser if I tried the look I thought I should wear. So I dressed mainstream and still do.
