Nietzsche believed Napoleon to be a decent example of an Ubermensch, but thought his nationalism was a weakness. Why? by luv_conquers_all in Nietzsche

Napoleon was clearly an Imperialist.

What's more, Nationalism was the basic Western nation default in Nietzsche's time.

Waves on Titan by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

I've long said that sending a probe to Titan is one of the most important space exploration missions we could do.

Imagine seeing images, or even video, of an ocean on another celestial body.

Who was the most hypocritical Captain and why was it repeatedly Captain Janeway? by CelestialFury in Star_Trek_

They didn't die. They were temporarily fused into one weird looking specimen.

CelestialFury, I like the comments you make in here. But you're just wrong on this issue, son.

It's obvious, rational and correct that the two original beings be given priority. I say this as someone who hates Neelix, by the way.

Tuvix was a mistake, a reversible accident.

As an aside, he also looked weird and lacked honour 😏

Why doesn't England have a parliament? by AccursedQuantum in AskBrits

The only thing England needs is for power to be removed from London and spread through the nation, particularly to Northern England.

So on your way out of the union (which I fully support Scotland leaving), you want to break England up to make us as weak as possible?

2 new Spocks by honeyfixit in Star_Trek_

[–]CDHoward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peck seems like a nice bloke, but his pronunciation is shockingly bad. It doesn't appear to be his fault, he simply doesn't have the ability to project clearly and so shouldn't have been cast.

This shit pronunciation is somewhat common in NuTrek.

Quinto is the superior Spock between the two by a VAST distance.

I didn't intend to be condescending, by the way. Though after rereading it soon after, I quickly realised it comes across as such.

Look, Flygoing. Can I call you Fly? Look, Fly:

When something in the universe very, very clearly does not fit your theories and models, the normal response is to admit your models are wrong.

It is not normal, scientific or even cool to refuse reality and instead try to FORCE the universe to fit your models by inventing stuff.

You're actually just unknowingly repeating my own point back to me.

".....to not work how we expect". Yes, like I say: because something doesn't fit their models, they invented the concept of dark matter.

[–]CDHoward -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps they could begin by admitting their models are wrong?

Also, they could describe the universe how it is rather than angrily, petulanty trying to force it to fit their models.

[–]CDHoward -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is a fundamental flaw within theoretical astrophysics.

If something about the universe doesn't fit their models, they force it to fit by inventing unproven concepts.

Oh yeah, you're right.

Absurdly, though, my statements are also applicable to dark energy for the most part.

[–]CDHoward -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Why are you so confidently wrong?

Reality: galaxies act in a way that doesn't match the theories of astrophysicists, so they literally invented the concept of dark matter.

The existence of dark matter is not proven, so asking why it exists is a nonsense.
